How to Decorate a Detached Wall in a Vaulted Greatroom
Comments (9)Seems to me that the more 'stuff' that you put up there, the more it will draw attention to the short wall. You don't want people looking up because they see things there, and then really wonder what happened to the rest of the wall. I would try to keep the focus of that area on the wall itself - perhaps a great piece of artwork. Would it be possible to have a spotlight from the ceiling onto that area to wash the wall with light? Or perhaps mount a multi-light wall fixture along the top of the wall that would wash the wall with light from the top down, so that the top of the wall would kind of disappear visually. Perhaps a tall plant or planter with uplighting behind it. A console table and mirror with lamps? The other thing that crosses my mind, tho it is hard to make suggestions without seeing the space, is creating some kind of open grid of woodwork or metalwork panels or frosted/etched acrylic panels -- something to fill the space above to the ceiling, but not create a closed wall. That may not work with the style of the home or decor, tho, and could also not be economically feasible for you. I guess if it worked with the style of the home, you could also hang a tapestry or other fabric banner from the ceiling, kind of like you would see in a great hall in a castle. It would not touch the wall itself, but hang down perhaps to a foot above it....See MoreLarge empty wall need decor ideas
Comments (9)I love the suggestions of statement sized horizontal art. You don't need to fill the wall, just make it interesting. A suggestion for your fabulous new built-ins: if you can move those shelves around so they're at different heights. Not every shelf needs to be used. That way you can put something really tall in one of them....See MoreNeed Help With Vaulted Ceiling Decor
Comments (1)You really don’t need anything high up on a wall. Decorating is done down at human-level. The clock is a little in-your-face, the tv is sort of the natural focal point on that wall. Do you have another spot for it?...See MoreNeed decorating help with wall and large sliders
Comments (22)wow thank you groveraxle and everyone for input-amazing! Tend to like neutrals so didn't realize how much a bit of color can transform the space. Since I am visual, have a bit of trouble envisioning things unless actually seen. I had a neutral rug in mind (grey/beige/cream)- would love input if not a good decision or if it will work? Thanks again!...See Moreaprilneverends
