I do everything like that on my smart phone because for me I like a big screen and couldn't see me reading my calendar and lists on a tiny little watch. Something to think about. Mary

I was thinking about apps that might synch with a laptop or smartphone and give reminders, track time, make shopping lists, etc. Would be cool if they also responded to voice commands so you didn't have to type or try to read tiny bits on a phone. I don't like carrying my smartphone around all the time. I'd love a small computer I could wear around my neck like my photo ID for work. Something that more elegantly fit in a pocket than a smartphone.

Intereting idea. I just talk commands to my phone to do stuff. For me my phone is a computer and does everything my desktop does ans fits in my purse. Mary

Yeah, I'm not much of a purse person. Thinking I could actually store a lot of the stuff in my purse on a computer. Maybe I just need one of those fanny packs for my phone. I lead a very active outdoorsy life, which is why no purse and why I keep losing my phone, it doesn't fit very well in my pockets and it's fallen out more than once, or gotten left on a stump once because it kept falling out of my pocket . . .

I carry a small purse with just the essentials, money, credit cards insurance card and such. There is a nice slot on the front for my phone. I do like electronic gadgets but a smart watch is not one of them. Mary

Well, my purse has a phone slot too, but when I am at work or running errands on campus or out in the field doing research, I don't want to carry any kind of purse, particularly one with such important things that could get lost or damaged if they got wet. I dunno, maybe I just need to get myself one of those little sachels like they make for passports for my smart phone. It's the taking out and putting away that makes me lose it though. That's why I liked the idea of wearing a watch that had some computer functions.

As I understand it, an Apple Watch will do some of what you want when on a standalone basis and will do much more when it's linked wirelessly to a nearby iphone, like in a backpack or other carrier that can remain closed.

I like ones like this. They have vertical ones too. Can just leave my phone in there and use it as needed. Don't have a big set of keys as my car is keyless so I only have a fob I never have to take out and house key. Mary
