Those are some nice looking cabinets just the way they are. To my eye, the only thing that seems a bit dark is the backsplash. Maybe if you pick up one of the lighter colors in the countertop for the backsplash.

Thank You! The color is fading a bit, thought if I painted them a lighter color it would solve the problem.....a lighter back-splash may be more cost effective.

I agree with the above. In addition to changing the backsplash, I’d also recommend picking a more soothing wall color, replacing the pendants and bar stools.

If your husband hates white you can not pull a fast one and get off white instead. I really see no need to paint the cabinets. Considering the cost of painting I think a better value would be replacing the backsplash. Wall color is bad as well. Do you know the name of your granite?

They are nice cabinets! I think the others suggestion of starting with the backsplash is a good one. Even if you painted them white you'd need to do the backsplash. If the finish is starting to wear off in places it could probably be touched up instead of painted.

Yup, I agree with the others. Your cabinets are beautiful. Don't start messing with them. It's a chain reaction. White cabinets mean your floor will be off. Change the wall colour, the stool seats, the pendants and then look at the backsplash.

Just had to see what these cabinets look like. Agree they are lovely and i'm surprised hubby even said yes to paint any color as men generally like "wood" and do not like to paint over it.

All the other items need to be changed up, as previously posted. Let us know how it goes.

Your cabinets are gorgeous. Your backsplash is too dark, and very outdated. Your pendents look outdated and old. Wall color is way too bright a yellow. I love bright colors, but, that yellow wouldnt have lasted 2 days in my house. LOL Your kitchen itself is very nice, and with these things replaced, it will be beautiful. I also agree, you need new bar stool seat covers. All this could be done for a fraction of the cost to get them repainted.

Those are inset doors . Not a good idea to try to paint those anyway - it could affect the tolerance of the space around the doors and they would stick during humid months. Also - typically - inset doors distinguish a very good quality cabinet that will last a long time.

I agree with the others - your cabinets are beautiful. The space just needs a refresh. Change the backsplash, pendants , wall color, brown mat on the floor and remove a few things on the counter by the cooktop so the undercabinet light can reflect and do its job. You could even look into changing out hte light bulbs in the recessed lights... there are several posts on changing the "temperature" of the bulbs to alter how the light looks in the room.

Cabs / countertop / floor coordinate beautifully. New backsplash (something simple) and new paint. Great kitchen.

Agree with the others - I wouldn't paint those cabs - they are inset (and very nice!) and painting them would likely cause problems. I would definitely do a new (lighter!) backsplash though. You'd be amazed how that could lighten things up.

Agreed w/ others - cabinets are nice. I'd consider changing hardware as well - to maybe black/oil rubbed bronze - along w/ the new backsplash and lighting. That plus new paint will really make your kitchen feel totally different.

Painting your cabinets would require a highly skilled craftsman. Just sanding and properly painting the beading around your inset openings is a real challenge. I'd guess $10k. And you'll still need to do the backsplash and the counters to go with a current non yellow off white.

No comments on a paint color, because, we would need to see what your style is and colors you like and have in other areas so the rooms flow together. If you dont mind, how about some pictures of the rooms that are directly off the kitchen. Thanks.

Near the bottom of [this Houzz thread[(https://www.houzz.com/discussions/painting-kitchen-tile-and-grout-dsvw-vd~5538366) a poster named mkritt shows before and after photos of a ceramic tile backsplash she painted a light color. Looks great and she says it was easy to do and has held up. Another benefit is there's no risk of damaging your counter top. If you don't like it, the paint doesn't prevent you from removing the tile later and replacing it.

I think the cabinets are the best part of your kitchen. I'd change out the flooring, backsplash and the counter tops before painting those beautiful inset cabinets.

Those cabinets look amazing! I wonder why you might want to change the color. Either ways, I don’t think that’d be the answer. The backsplash on the other hand seems to be way too dark. A lighter color might work much better with the cabinets and countertop.

They are lovely cabinets. I'd wait until they are in poor condition to think about painting...What about adding better / more lighting first to see if you they look better to you with better lighting? Painting is a lot of time, money, effort. Also, lighter wall paint color? The yellow (at least it looks yellow) really brings out yellow tones in the cupboards. I'd also have a couple of the top door panels replaced with glass, and light the interiors.

Just my thought. Really pretty kitchen!

Really nice cabinets. The problem is not the cabinets -- it's the walls. Paint the walls instead of the cabinets.

That yellow seriously clashes with the cabinets.

You could paint all your walls a true white ... but, please, not an off white.

Since you have strong colors in your backsplash and countertops, paint over the yellow with the lightest color (other than off white) that you have in your countertops or backsplash.
