urgent help: Countertop that doesn’t clash with floors!
Comments (13)I agree that simple and solid is best. I would recommend something with a tiny bit of speckling, however, over a pure white countertop. We have pure white quartz counters at our beach house and they CONSTANTLY look dirty. You see every speck of a crumb, and even if they’re perfectly clean, you see streaks from the cleaner. The dark soapstone that someone mentioned could look really nice as well. Or concrete counters. I think quartz could look a little sterile with the stone floors, so I’m leaning towards soapstone or concrete. Concrete countertops can come in any paint color that you’d like if you don’t like the standard gray look....See MoreCambria countertops light color
Comments (6)we have Torquay for the basement bar. We like it..it's neutral and it has some cream/tan in it. It goes well with our walnut cabinets. From what I see, the Highgate is gray, so these two are very different...if you are going for a gray/cool color, then Highgate would be better. Torrquay is warmer. I'll check to see if I have a photo...See MoreCountertop to look nice with oak
Comments (13)I think out of the samples that you have the only one that looks warm enough for your cabinets is the Darlington. My sister in law has Summerhill and quite frankly, I don't care for it. It looks fine with her white cabinets but I don't think it would work well with oak, but it does have sparkle in it. Have you seen a full slab of Ella? Look on Cambria's site. To me it looks like asystole on an EKG (I work at a hospital). I have a big sample of Torquey and it does not have any beige in it. I was disappointed with it because to me it looks like it's dirty. Windemere looks like it would go. So would Dovedale or Snowdown White (which is what I originally wanted for my kitchen but wound up going with a Hanstone color instead because of the price)....See MoreQuoted price of Cambria seems exceptionally high--what was yours?
Comments (17)Not Cambria, but I was quoted $5k for 25 sq ft of Silestone White Zeus Extreme or $200/sq foot. I went to another shop in town and they wanted $3.7k for the same stone. This is in Appleton, WI which is less expensive than Allentown. I ended up going with Corian Designer White for $2.1k and I couldn't be happier. If I had done Glacier White it would been only $1.7k. This allowed me to spend some money on a good sink. You project sounds complicated. You could roll the dice with Home Depot for cheaper pricing but for the square footage you want to cover I would suggest taking a look at solid surface as an affordable option. It's not your Grandma's countertop....See MoreJAN MOYER
