DD paint color help needed QUICK! Decision tomorrow!
Comments (24)Definitely, sandyponder. What a fun space! I won't show it to my daughter, lest she change her mind again! OK, decision made - went with California Honeydew - but color matched by BM. It's almost Warren Acres but a little brighter. Took the swatch to PBK and got the Zoe quilt. The primer is up on the wall and I only now just realized how "too much" the bright pink was in her smallish bedroom! I did this on my own and hopefully the bedding will pass muster. If not, back we go. But I think the color will be good for many different beddings....See Morevaldese jumper upholstery fabric ??
Comments (11)I received swatches from Calico Corners and from Mary Jo's Cloth Store. Calico Corners are about 6" x 7" and you can order up to 4 swatches (free) and pay a flat shipping fee of $5.95 + tax. Mary Jo's doesn't sell "swatches" but you can order the fabric in 1/4 yd. amounts and for Jumper (at their price) that is $4.75. The price per yard is a lot lower at Mary Jo's. This is the response from Calico Corners "The abrasion count is over 30,000 which is considered very heavy duty." This is the response from Mary Jo's "Jumper can withstand 50,000 surface abrasions (double rubs) weight is 1.31 lb per yard. It is a heavy weight, but I have a round table cloth made of jumper and it hangs nice" I'm planning to reupholster a large and a small couch in our FR that gets a lot of use. What are you planning to upholster? Here are a couple pictures of Jumper fabric so people reading this post can see what fabric we're talking about. The top color is Pecan, bottom is Cafe. I like how there is a mild pattern in the fabric, yet from a distance it "reads" solid....See MoreCan you envision these fabrics in the same room together?
Comments (31)You might want to post your floor plans in a new thread for dial-uppers :) Well, it looks like you're doing a great job planning your space! Nice to see you working with a floor plan to see just what the room can do before actually making purchases. I seem to like plan #2 the best, esp since the circulation is better, although I'm still not sure about the sofa table. I think I'd try a small service table to the right of the chair in front of the fp. That would also be a great spot to highlight a special or unusual chair find, maybe another antique piece. A sculptural wooden chair (something with arms maybe for sitting comfort) or an unusually shaped Old World upholstered piece that makes your heart sing :) I still think you're rushing and I'd take the same care and time finding just the right upholstered pieces and fabrics for your room. From what you describe, and getting a better feel for what your heart desires for your home, I have trouble envisioning CC pieces -- unless of course you're going for an old & new look :) There are some great small scale sofas around, more at love seat size, with curvy lines, maybe with some wood on them, maybe old pieces -- a couple of those flanking the fp and a beautiful ottoman or table between, chairs entrance side is a nice cozy conversational area. Built-ins and bookcases also give a charming old-home feel. I wonder if you could flank the window with bookcases, do some charming wood shutters and build out a deep window sill. I think you could still work a bit of fabric around the window area to soften it. Since you want to invest in a fine rug, that would seem the best place to start with your room as it's part of the envelope or foundation for the space and will set the colors, tone, and feel for the space. I was on BeautifulFabrics.com (lost that site for a while :) looking for soft, vintage feel colors and fabrics. Maybe wander around there a bit, they do have some beautiful fabrics! These last two are vintage European fabrics. They have such a beautiful quality about them that's hard to capture in new textiles. It might be nice to see if there are any old textiles you could use for pillows or chair seats. Even to frame!...See MoreCrate & Barrel icon vs vail fabrics
Comments (42)The Ethan Allen Spencer collection is 20% off right now. I think their fabrics are much nicer (even quick ship choices). I prefer the taller frame for back cushions, 6" wide track arm (not too big or small), mortise and tenon joinery construction, cushion choices, back cushion has a 3-channel jacket to keep fibers from shifting and that the bottom foam cushions are wrapped with 3 layers. I worried the very thick cushions of the Gather would breakdown and be hard to replace because of their unusual dimensions....See Morepsaag
