The driveway is about 220 square feet. He was paid in the same price range as other concrete contactors in the area. I want to cry everytime I look at it… I don’t see these kinds of driveways anywhere!

The contractor has made 10+ repairs to

the driveway. Each time he comes fix something, he makes something else work.

Has anyone seen a professional work like this?

I don’t think he did this sloppy job on purpose. I just don’t think he knows the first thing about concrete, yet somehow he was rated an “A” on Angie’s List

Are all the blotches where he's done repairs? functionally I think it'll work just fine. Aesthetically it's not very pretty. you might be doing more harm than good with these "repairs". Some time and weathering might help things match better.

I would rip it out and put in pavers. Sorry … but it really doesn’t look good and work seems less than subpar.

The blotches are his patch repair jobs.

His last repair was putting a thin coat of concrete over his crappy concrete job.

He used different type of concrete for his various repairs - he would use concrete bags and mix himself and then different types of premixed patch concrete.

Trust me if you saw it in person, I’d be hard to tell what is what just like in the photos.

Forget any patch repairs. You don't get second chances with a concrete pour.

Either live with it as is or rip it out and have someone competent (whose prior work you have personally inspected) re-pour it. The only thing this guy that you hired is good for would be breaking it up and hauling it off. Which, assuming you've already paid him, you might be able to get him to do since he's made such a horrible mess of things and wasted your money.

It's easy to get an A there. Just buy their advertising. They'll quietly make your "unjustified" negative reviews go away.

I'm not just blowing smoke here. I was one of their users, back in the days when you had to pay, and I had my negative reviews deleted.

BTW, when I used AL to choose contractors, I had about a 50% success rate. That is, roughly half were really good, and roughly half were pretty awful. I do about as well now by picking people from the local newspaper classified ads and checking them out with the BBB.

The other problem with AL (and probably most contractor review services) is that many homeowners don't have a clue how good a job they've gotten. The vast majority of the AL reviewers wrote about whether the workers arrived on time, spoke politely, didn't play loud music or smoke or swear, cleaned up after themselves, and never ever asked to use the bathroom.

I am curious. You said, he replaced several driveways in your community. Do they all look as bad as yours?
