Ladybutterfly, Love the arch! What rose and clematis combinations have you decided to go with?

Very nice arch.

The arch I have now was a very cheep arch and is falling apart so I'm planning to replace it with this one. The climbing rose I have is Awakening ..it is pink and on the other side of the arch I have two roses... Blue Girl which is lavender and in front of Blue Girl is a very small white rose called Summer Snow. I was thinking that Ramona will grow on the side where I have Blue Girl and Summer Snow growing. I thought Ramona might be a good color to add. Some pictures I seen of Ramona looks if it is blue at times and I like that.

My garden is all roses right now. In the back ground to the arch there are dark reds, pinks, lavender and white roses and behind the roses as a back ground is clematis The President which comes in as a dark purple for me.

I was thinking that I could put a small stone bench under the arch but not sure if that will look silly or not.

What do you think??

I've been eyeing those umrella trellises. What are you growing on them and what size did you buy?

Ruby..I bought the Trio..they were a birthday gift last year..On the smaller one I have growing through it David Austins "Cottage Rose" with clematis PPE with the 2nd tallest I have Climbing Rosa "New Dawn" and planted Clematis "Comtesse de Bouchard" and on the taller of the three I planted Climbing Rosa "Zephrine Drouhin" with clematis "Hagleys Hybrid"..you can see them on the J&P Website...I think it's under 300 for all three....Hope this helps...Jeanne

Skippy, Thank you. I was hoping it won't look silly. I was also thinking of putting a real small flower bed on each side of the arch right around the climbing rose and the clematis.

Thanks Jeanne, those plantings sound lovely. You must have a fairly large yard to fit all three in. I'd love to see pictures sometime.

Ruby..the part of the garden that I did that is really not that large...so I decided to do raised beds because of a standing water problem since my house is elevated on a hill...so I thought to grow UP...here they are towards the end of the summmer..you must remember my roses on the Umbrella Trellis were bareroots and spent last year getting established so the trellis aren't filled BUT this year is looking grand...can't wait to share pics when they are full of blooms...

Lady Butterfly, I really like that arch. Your plan sounds very pretty and the trellis will integrate so well with your fence. I like the soft colors you are using. Summersnow is a very nice rose, and I love Awakening also. I do have Blue Girl but admit she does have require a little more care but she is worth it. Ramona will be so pretty and work so well with your color scheme.

Sotexas...are you referring to the white minature Roses I have planted at the base of the Umbrella Trellis??..Jeanne

Patricia, Thank you!! I did get my arch up the other day but it was way to cold out side and it started to rain right as I was getting it done. I keep going to the window and looking at it..it is so pretty! I can't wait till it gets a little warmer to work out in my garden and get everything planted!!
