Help! new problem: slide-in range doesn't fit!
Comments (13)From that spec sheet, it looks like the 31 5/16'' refers to the trim piece on the top of the range that should sit on the granite. Is the range itself wider than 30'' below the trim piece so it won't slide in it all? And from the picture, the front edge of the range should protrude ~2'' when the range has slid back all the way. As I mentioned earlier, I had my granite fabricator shave the granite so my range could slide back about an extra inch or so. If you slide your range in further, will you have room to open the doors on adjacent cabinets? There should be 1+'' clearance allowed for that....See MoreLED that doesn't hum but fits in a standard junction box
Comments (10)LED lights require LED compatible dimmers. Also best to check the dimmer list for compatible bulb brands and sizes. Not all bulbs are compatible with all the dimmers (which I find totally annoying). LED floods, f.ex. should be sized for the cans take (usually there are stickers inside that tell you the size. I have older cans and incandescent dimmers. My cans take Par38 bulbs. I've had very good luck with Lowe's Utilitech 3000K daylight (yellow streak) Par 38 LED bulbs, about $35. Because we have not yet changed out the dimmers I do a workaround and buying slowly since they are $$$$. For every 4 lights I use 3 LEDs and 1 incandescent. The one incandi powers the switches enough so the switches and dimmers work (if all are changed out they don't work). No humming. The bonus I found with this brand from Lowe's is that it's their proprietary brand. A few of the bulbs were defective and burned out within months (as opposed to 30,000 hours, however long that is). I was able to exchange them with no questions asked. When I change out the switches (hopefully later this year) and go all LED, I will use the Lutron switches. They also have infrared with remote and timer switches -- some states will give cash rebates for installing these. The Utilitech bulbs are on the Lutron list. I loathed the compact fluroescents but the LED light is very good IMO. Here is a link that might be useful: Lowe's LED...See MoreDuvet question. . . .and it probably doesn't even matter!!
Comments (21)Thanks everyone!! Annie1971 and dlh2000, it was curiosity and a "light bulb" moment (gee, I never thought about that before) vice something to worry about and I knew some GWers would weigh in. Mostly I'm sort of the Alfred E. Newman type - "what, me worry?" about things like this. . .and toilet paper, although I will admit to being an "over the top" on that pressing question. When I was in college (and of course, you always know everything at that age!) I remember questioning my Mom why she did things a certain way and encouraging her to try something "new and improved". Her comment to me was always "this is the way I do it, but when you have a home of your own, you can do it THAT way "!! Wise lady!! Kind of a Frank Sinatra philosophy. Lizzie nh and vickij. . .so glad to see that I wasn't the only "top of the bed" girl!! I think I always did it that way because the pillows, shams, and deco pillows would cover the opening when the bed was made. Maire Cate, I did get the shams. Actually, they kind of bug me too as the opening is on the left side rather than centered or set back from the side of the pillow. . .which means one of the pillow openings shows from the side of the bed. Again. . .most certainly NOT an issue that will cause me sleepless nights, but. . . .As far as my sheets are concerned, I do top sheet patterned side down so when you turn the top sheet back over the blanket, the pattern shows. So, since I really, really wanter this set, the duvet will open at the bottom, the opening of one of the euros will show from the side of the bed, but THE BEES WILL BE FLYING UP!! Thanks Ladies!! Most interesting!!...See MoreWill a queen comforter fit inside a full duvet cover?
Comments (32)I’m another one who loves the look of the elaborate layered beds, and they LOOK so cozy, but I find simpler bedding to be not only easier but more comfortable. A little while back I eliminated the top sheet and now I just use a bottom sheet and a comforter in a duvet cover that gets changed with my sheets. A few sleeping pillows and I’m all set. But I admit that changing a king-sized duvet cover is a pain. With a queen size, I could kind of shake to comforter into the cover, but with a king size, I have to practically climb into the thing....See MoreUser
