Anyone had luck trying to customize a BM/Aura color?
Comments (2)Rather than tweak an Affinity color I'd get out my fandecks and try to find what you are looking for outside the Affinity pallette. I always have my Affinity fandeck held up against the big BM and SW decks. Most of the BM colors that are in our current home are slight variations on Affinity colors that just worked better for us-we still had them mixed in Aura. We started out with a Red (Pomegranate) in Affinity and got such good results that we really wanted to stay with Aura but after giving the other colors we were after a chance by sampling them we were able to find regular BM colors that were just right. IMO the Affinity pallette has really nice Reds,Blues, and light neutrals, but the Yellows/Golds/Greens just don't quite click with me. I am about to do our master bath and after going thru the Affinity blues and almost going with 'Atmospheric' we stepped outside Affinity and got just what we were looking for in Wythe Blue (BM Historic Pallette). Even in the hands of a great paint mixer, tweaking a formula can be inconsistent. I'm a DIY hack and if I run out of paint I have a pretty lousy chance of getting a close enough match on a tweaked color. Comments (26)Thanks Design Interior South for your comments and reference to “boob lights”. Ha haha ... I am definitely replacing them now! Yes I’ll keep the tile floors but will likely put rugs on them. Staircase...yes needs to be updated for sure. I got a few quotes and it’s nearly 4000 to paint. I can get new spindles and posts for this much which I think would make a bigger impact than just painting. Happy to hear if you disagree. Re the kitchen, I’ll be getting a white/cream quartz countertop with an overhang plus changing the backsplash to match/complement the countertop. Hopefully that will lighten up the very dark kitchen nook. The other option is to paint the cabinets white which I am still thinking about....See More- 5 years ago
