Comments (2)Thanks for the thank-you, Taigen. My pleasure. You restored some of the confidence I lost this morning when I displayed my ignorance on the Iris Forum. I responded to someone who posted a question on the life cycle of the iris, giving her erroneous information. Oh, well . . . at least I take good iris pictures. :-) Chuck Chapman looks like a nice iris site. If you want other Canadian sites for comparison, you could try asking on the Iris Forum. They talk about online buying all the time, but I don't recall anything specific to Canada. Have fun ordering!...See Morealisande~Question on hooked rugs
Comments (6)Hi Candace - I wish I could be more help, but so far I haven't hung a rug. Many others do this regularly, though, so if you'd like I can post the question on a rug hooking forum I frequent. Some of the members are true experts, and I know you'll get a knowledgeable response. As for the cleaning, I've seen snow mentioned often. One method is to lay the rug face down on snow and tap it to release dirt into the snow. Others describe putting light, fluffy snow on the rug, letting it sit for a minute, and then sweeping it off. And then I found this for you: IVA'S RUG CLEANER - I have used this home-made rug cleaner for over 20 years. For Small Rug - 1 tsp. TIDE without bleach, 2 T white vinegar, 1 cup water For 2 9 x 12 Rugs - 1/2 cup TIDE without bleach, 2 cups white vinegar, 2 cups water Mix ingredients and whisk into a foam. Brush foam on rug lightly. Leave on rug overnight. Vacuum next day. Here are a couple of entries from Gene Shepherd's rug hooking blog. He gets deeply into every aspect of rug hooking. Rug Restoration (including providing support when hanging, I believe) Making a Sleeve to Hang a Rug Hope this helps. Good for you for wanting to save and display your family rugs. Comments (8)Just curious about your camera settings - do you have your camera set to the highest settings? Not sure what that would translate to in Pentax syntax - but in Nikon, mine is set to Fine. I have also set the colors to "vivid". I shoot only in JPEG - I don't have the time to mess with RAW. I fiddled with it a bit, and saw no difference in what I was doing. I have both Prime and Zoom high quality Nikor lenses - the quality of the image with the prime lens is very noticable. Are your lenses new? Or are they older lenses made pre-DSLR? I know that some older lenses are compatible with the new DSLR cameras, but lack the vibration reduction of their new counterparts - and on that note - do you have the vibration (or stabilization) turned on on your lenses if applicable? Post processing makes a big difference also. I have seen some "ok" photos that had a "HDR Action" applied to them in Photoshop - and they went from OK to STUNNING!...See MoreNicole, question about that desk chair . . .
Comments (14)I just read your post. I kept the instructions and filed them with the receipt. :0) I checked the letter labels for the screws, not the same as the link posted above. I can mail you the original? or scan a copy in and post them here....? What would you like?...See More- 7 years ago
