Light, Medium or Dark Grey Table Base?
Comments (8)Thanks for your input! Dh can mix a stain that matches the top exactly. The actual grey color will be in the same hue as Requisite Gray. DH is only mixing black and grey lacquers that he has. After reading Pal's post and then yours Les I started thinking about the chandelier in the DR. I'm re-using the one that was in the house when we bought it. It's brass and sinilar to this new one pictured below, but I've wanted to spray paint it a different finish for quite some time. Maybe silver is something to consider then for both the feet of the table and the finish of my chandelier? I just finished the black chalkboard wall this evening so that's done! Hoping to have this done by Thanksgiving!...See MoreMedium Grey Paint for Living Room
Comments (19)Hi Jenny, We ended up using a much darker grey (closer to peppercorn) and love it! Hubs insisted it would be too dark with our ebony wood floors, so we went with a lighter grey in the main living/dining area and darker in the bathroom. Once he saw, he insisted that we do everything in the darker grey, so we repainted. We did accent walls though, not the entire room. I was looking for more of a silvery grey as opposed to green or blue undertones. This was a gut reno, once we updated the electrical with white LED, the color changed once again....See MoreNeed Medium Grey Exterior paint without undertones ? HELP
Comments (6)I'm trying to find a Medium (not too dark, not too light) Grey exterior paint that doesn't have blue, green or brown undertones. Does one exist ? When it comes to architectural color, there is no such thing as undertones so you need to think about color differently. Every color belongs to a hue family including whites and grays. Here's an example of what that looks like. There's nothing hidden or "under" anything. You don't want blue, green, or brown. That means you should be looking at grays from the yellow to green-yellow hue family. The reason is grays, near neutrals, from this region of the hue family spectrum are most often perceived as being "just gray" with no discernible factor of hue. You are using Dunn-Edwards. Excellent choice. Dunn-Edwards is one of the few paint brands that lists a Munsell hue, value, chroma color notation in its fandeck. Get one of their fandecks. Another example of where to find Dunn-Edwards color notations --- try this, Google "Muslin DE6227 LRV" and you'll see the color notation is included in the meta data. Handy. All you have to do is look for grays with a hue family designation of Y or GY. Here's what that looks like. A gray with a hue family around 5Y or 6Y is a good place to start. Make sure the last number (with the hot pink arrow) is below 1.0 - this is chroma and the lower the chroma the more likely the color of gray will appear "neutral"....See MoreDo I have too much dark roof to paint my house BM graystone?
Comments (2)Not too much. Your house will end up looking bigger. I think the roof is neutral enough that you have the luxury of going with your gut, going with the color that speaks to you....See MoreAlice
