Need a Gray with Blue-Green undertones
Comments (16)I wanted the same grayed down blue-green and also tried many of the same colors samples you did. I agree with Metromom; look for a chip much grayer than you think you want. I settled on BM 1565 Mount Saint Anne. It's from the old color deck, but both BM and SW had a chip for me to look at. It doesn't look like much on the card, but it's really lovely on the wall. I don't have a picture, but you can search Google and find some posts with images. Sarah...See MoreHelp finding medium warm grey please!!
Comments (2)Sorry but gray by its very nature is not a warm color so really difficult to go with anything other than greige which to me is just taupe by a nother name and has too many undertones. I like a grayed green for a nice neutral. I find the SW pewter tankard very dead looking. The problem is your space will influence the tones of all those greiges so it is impossible to tell you waht you need as you are finding out....See MoreNeed a rec for blue/green/gray exterior paint...please!
Comments (5)Thank you! I will look up Del Mar Blue. I think wedgewood gray is still too light anyway but I like the tone. Who knew picking exterior colors could be so difficult!...See MoreBest Kelvin rating to reduce purple-red undertone in gray paint?
Comments (9)Update: I stopped at Home Depot this morning to pick up Cree bulbs and they had none. However, I did find some daylight (5000k) Phillips bulbs with a CRI rating of 90. I brought those home to experiment and tried one in the vanity light so I could compare it to the others. Interestingly, I noticed the old bulbs' light had a barely discernible pinkish/purple hue in comparison to the new Phillips bulb. I never noticed when they were all the same, but am sure that wasn't helping my paint issues. I then changed out all of the bulbs and do feel the paint looks a little more neutral. Another observation: my old bulbs have a large plastic base, which concentrated light toward the top of bulb (upside down in the vanity fixture). The new bulbs are full glass and look just like an incandescent, which means more light flows out near the base of the bulb as well, and toward the top of the room. I think this helps light some of the corners near the ceiling, where the plum was showing worst. For anyone else who stops by this thread, the daylight bulb seems to help neutralize funky color shifts, but in my case, I needed a better daylight bulb with higher CRI. And don't discount the directional flow of light coming from the bulb! All that said, I still question if my paint was mixed properly. BM Thunder looks darned taupe to me, but at least the bathroom is now a little less plum-like. :) I appreciate the feedback!...See Morepetlover
