To answer one of your questions, the "real wood on WPC core" is definitely an up and coming form of engineered wood product. It is being retailed as a hybrid floor. Not wood, but not vinyl either. Knowing wood's tendency to expand and contract in the presence of water/moisture and the SPC cores KNOWN stability (it doesn't care) makes me suspicious of the hype. I'm not concerned about the thickness of the wear layer. It is obvious this is going to be a 25 year floor that will NEVER be refinished. As for 'water proof', I'll wait to see this in 10 years after all the floods and dishwasher events and all the leaking fridge lines have come and gone to reserve judgement on this. I've looked it up. The planks can be floated or glued. A glue down application is interesting. This increases the cost of the installation and limits the application (cannot be used in a basement over over old slabs that do not have vapour retarders in the slab). The glue is going to be DAMNED expensive. Cork only accepts certain adhesives. And those adhesives will be expensive. So be aware of a glue down application. It *sounds great and better and all that, but it will severely limit your application. And the REMOVAL is going to be a beast. Once cork is glued to something it is nasty to remove. It crumbles. I splits. It gets into cracks. It takes HOURS of scraping to remove it from the surface it is glued to. Now imagine having to replace ONE plank that is glued to your floor. Yikes. I do not want to be around the person who's paid to do that. As much as I love the English language, I do NOT need to learn new versions of foul language (I grew up in an Angry Irishman's household...I learned to swear like a sailor before I was 10)!

We're cutting it close and everyone from the designer to my husband to my neighbor is asking me if I picked the floor yet! I'm worried that the floor I think I like could sell out. I'm wondering if I should buy a box of it or just buy it. It's hard for me to pick a floor with two little samples that I have at the store from two different stores when I I have already had problems with them selling out. Yesterday the fabricator for the countertop said that my sink was severely damaged and I went to buy a new one in that sink will not be available till end of many so I'll have to take choice2. would hate to go through best I can with a floor. One thing I will say I did not hesitate with was the courts and it did end up selling out pretty quickly after! Floor is such a big investment that goes throughout the whole house so it makes me more nervous. For those of you considering LVP, I can’t stress enough how important the installation process needs to be. IMO the flooring is great—durable, beautiful, comfortable to walk on, etc. We are having issues because the contractor we used was incompetent and our floors are now buckling. Thankfully it’s can be fixed without completely replacing, it’s just the inconvenience and extra $$ we’re paying because I don’t trust him to fix it. Make sure you’re installer know what he’s doing.

We installed 2600 sf of Happy Feet Pinnacle LVP in our new build and am very happy with it. i had read through this group many times prior but decided with grown kids it was more important to us to have a matte look and low maintenance than risk wearing out our socks. I definitely prefer the feel of natural wood under bare feet but this LVP is not wearing out our socks or our bare feet. So far it feels like a great decision. interesting anecdotal observation - when in our old house, which had hardwood throughout, when we laid out various LVP samples and left them there for a week, our dog stated laying on the Happy Feet sample section. Never the other samples. 🤔
