My cutting is freaking out.......please HELP
Comments (12)Hi there, I agree with Barbra that it's a bit tricky to root them in the summer. When cuttings are cut early spring, the mother trees are still dormant. As it's time for them to naturally wake up, they'll grow leaves and start rooting so that's why it's a lot easy to root them in the spring. This is from personal experience and what a JL farms' rep told me. They had a cutting cut in the fall/early winter and by early summer, it still hasn't rooted. But another cutting cut from the same tree in Feb has rooted by May. With that said, it's not impossible to root in the summer. For your cutting, I'd keep it away from the extreme heat. When temp gets over 90, I protect mine from the afternoon sun. I'd like to root them in bottles so I can see when roots are formed. Also with a bottle, there's less soil (less moisture retention if it rains). Since my mix is fast draining, it doesn't matter if they get rained on every once in a while. But I wouldn't recommend letting them soak in the rain every day. :) Kenny...See MoreTrying not to freak out...Help please. Long (sorry).
Comments (9)I posted a link earlier to an article in the New York Times that applies to all of us here. It was about decision fatigue. I'll summarize it for you: The more decisions you make in a row, the worse you get at making decisions. This effect is exacerbated by low blood sugar. This information supports the advice the others have given you. Take your time. Don't let anyone rush you. Sleep on it. Make decisions when you are fresh, and when you have recently eaten. One other thing. If you haven't done it, take the Sweeby test. I found that to be of immense help in deciding on just about everything you could see in the kitchen. It really works. I was a complete basket case just doing a small kitchen. The fact that you are doing a whole new house and can still type in legible sentences shows great strength of mind. Comments (1)Anything really goes these days but if it were my house, I would stay with cool metals, like silver, nickel, pewter, stainless and of course black. You can mix and match these throughout your house in light fixtures and cabinet/door hardware. I agree about staying away from the golds and bronze....See MoreFreaking out about counter-depth fridge sticking out past pantry cabs!
Comments (112)Post a photo of the copy of the approved plan they were supposed to build to. Does it show deeper sides with the adjacent counters butting into them? Enough room for 24.375 plus the 2 inches behind so that the sides of the refrigerator BOX can be installed flush with the front of the cabinetry? Normally a cabinet shop would make this allowance or at least go over the options and differences. But if someone else did the design and it was adhered to, you don't have much to stand on. Also, is the opening the correct height because the hinges not fitting into the opening (like the photo above) can keep it from going back as well? Did you by chance consider another refrigerator that would fit properly? That might be the easiest and most economical way to address the issue. Switch them up and sell the first one. And to the guy that commented about "custom shops" ordering components, this is a common practice throughout the industry. It's very rare to find a cabinet shop that builds every part of a cabinet anymore and as long as what is ordered is of acceptable quality and fits, what's the problem?...See Morecitybird
