Transition wall color
Comments (2)Would be better if we could see a picture, but I think the trim probably should all be the same -- white. Welcome to "open concept". Doing the floor the same is great, but I think you need to continue the connection on walls/trim too unless there is a real division in the rooms. could you leave a 12" separator piece of wall as a divider? It would still be open, but the rooms would have a defined beginning and end point, at least on one side....See Moretransition of color of woodwork
Comments (1)Is the entrance from the foyer to the kitchen an open doorway(no door)? Does the flooring change? If the entrance is open, generally installing trim matching the foyer around the entrance looks best---from the foyer. If a transition strip is necessary in the entrance, it should match the base molding. in the foyer. Now, that will cause the white kitchen trim to mate with the natural trim from the foyer from the kitchen side, but that should quickly become 'normal' to you and cease to be a problem....See MoreTransitioning Color Dilemma
Comments (26)We have specified BM Simply White for all the trim in the home. But my builder may have another color he uses to make everything pop according to his wife. I also could do a metallic ceiling in gold in faux paint with the darker paint on the walls. We are looking to do some faux paint texture in there with the darker color... but have no idea how that would look or if they can even do the colors mentioned above. I am waiting to hear back from the Faux Painter. In the meantime, I just turned in my final colors for the home. BM Wedgewood Blue (Master BR/Laundry Room/Guest Bathroom) BM Rhone River (Great Room/Kitchen/ Wet Bar and Sitting Room) BM Everlasting (Hallways, LR, Bonus Room, Upstairs Bedrooms, Garage, and Pantry) Until I figure out some of those areas later on. BM Spice Gold (DR) BM Vintage Charm (Master Bath Barrel Ceiling) BM Violet Pearl (Master Bath Walls and Main Ceiling)...See MoreWhere to Transition Paint Color - Soffit + Panel Between Rooms
Comments (0)Help! I'm painting greige in this living room and red in the dining room. There is a soffit that separates the two rooms overhead as well as a painted wood panel on the long wall. Do you think I should paint the underside of the soffit AND the wood panel separating the two rooms both red for continuity, since the dining room wall extends to under the soffit on the other side? Or will that look crazy looking in from the living room? The homeowner is keeping the trim natural wood, so no opportunity to paint the panel a trim color. Thanks in advance for your thoughts!...See Moredecoenthusiaste
