Transitioning colors

I am looking at changing over my taupe walls and black/beige/taupe furniture and accents to more of a grey /black/ white combination. Wood is currently a golden oak and hope to be painting or replacing the baseboards to white. Furniture has dark wood/black leather (almost espresso).

Don't want to spend a fortune getting new furniture, but want to be able to make some smaller less expensive changes to the more updated color scheme.

Any suggestions on how to go about this? I know that taupes can sometimes go with greys, but not sure how to go about this.

Thanks for any input!
