Design Dilemma Kitchens

Undecided on backsplash grout color

So I’m stuck on what I think will look better. Originally before I made the sample boards I thought for sure I was going to love the darker gray (pearl gray, 3 row board). Now I’m thinking it might be too busy with the island being multi colored granite. The 2 row board, Delorean Gray, seems to be lighter but now I’m thinking maybe just using white grout to keep it simple. Any thoughts or comments is appreciated!!

I am not a fan of white grout so I pick the lightest grey/silver you can get. I like subtle so the darker grey would not be my choice, but some people love the definition that darker grout gives. I always wanted the attention on the tile not the grout.

Hands down I would recommend the darker grout. First off, your white will not stay white over time, and be a huge maintenance item. Secondly, white subway tile with dark grout is classic and having a huge comeback. The darker grout will also tie into the darker countertop. Good luck with the decision!

Yours looks nice! Also I notice with many professional photos, they lighten up / over expose the photo so much that the brightness is a bit unrealistic. (Your inspiration picture looks like it's been artificially brightened; see how everything on the left is almost a blur - the sconce, door trim, side of the cabinet. I'd guess it doesn't look the same in real life.) Your kitchen looks great!

What color grout for my backsplash

I usually like to match a mid-tone from the tile, unless the grout lines are an important part of the pattern. what exact color depends on brand and specific tile, so you need to get samples and set them next to a sample tile to choose.

pearl gray looks diff in the last shot...way black.....did not seem so black in first picture....is something going on.....not sure you want black lines.. but I would not go light.....what is meant by the "blue" description??? there's usually quite a few shades of gray to pick from...are you certain you've been thorough with reviewing all of them...???

You can’t go wrong here, but with your style kitchen I agree a little darker grout is better than white. If you’re not sure just pick one right in the middle.

(and make sure you have the right trim kit for your cooktop. tile over wallboard doesnt count as a non-flammable surface.)
