Help me pick a grout color for my backsplash?
Comments (21)While every monitor renders differently (than each other or reality), I think I like the far right one the best. It seems close to the overall shade of the tile (mostly picking up on the lighter tone from the transparency) and seems to have the right balance of coolness/warmth to go with the tile. I like the second from the left a close second best. It seems a little darker and seems to blend well with the tile. I wonder if it has a little bit of an green hue? If not, then I think this one would work really well too. The far left seems too cool/blue for your tile. The middle one seems too dark. And the second from the right seems too light. I think you're automatically going to get some contrast because the tile seems to look a little lighter in the center (presumably from the transparency of the glass) and will already help highlight the beautiful herringbone pattern....See MorePlease vote on grout color for my tumbled Noce backsplash.
Comments (21)Sully, I'm pretty sure it's tumbled noce. There are other names for the same stone, so I can find them out for you if you like. It just looks a lot different with the light grout. It is hard to picture which is why I sent the pic to xoxosmom. I don't think it would look right in her kitchen. Darker grout would look better with the darker cabinets IMO! I don't know the name of the grout color but it is almost white and changes the look completely. But thanks for the compliment!...See MoreKtichen backsplash - grout color help
Comments (6)Thanks for the comments. The Spectralock is actually not a commercial product. Used to be available at Lowes before they switched to Mapei - they switch every couple years, it seems. It is designed for regular tile installations, not specifically for pools or fountains. Yes, I let the sample board dry over night. It's been 3-4 days now. Still pink. Ugh. Online reviews for Mapei have not been great as far as grout color matching the samples, so I fear another issue there with having it not look like it should on the sample board. Some of the reviews have also indicated it's difficult to clean the haze off the tiles. Switching brands also doesn't help my having $39 invested in one of the Spectralock minis that's already opened. If I have to switch brands, I will, but I really would like some feedback on the Spectralock colors first to see if that can work. FWIW, I'm not concerned about mold and mildew on the backsplash. This is not like a tub or shower after all. What I am concerned with is food stains - spaghetti sauce, red cabbage, etc. This will be a relatively light grout color, and there are plenty of foods that can splatter and stain....See Morehelp picking out grout color + ending backsplash border
Comments (8)Hi thanks for the responses ! The trim is going anywhere the backsplash ends , so all those cuts will be addressed. I just can’t quite figure out with what kind of trim. I’ve looked up the metal ones, but they’re very thin and I want one that’s at least an inch wide. And I’m not finding a matching glass tile color to use. And yeah, I originally didn’t want the side splash of the quartz on the wall either but was advised from several people that behind the sink areas, without a side splash, can create leaks / water eventually seeps in between the tile backsplash and counter top. And because the sink is in front of the pass thru , and we wanted a counter top for the pass thru anyway (paint never lasted and always came off bc of heat from food and how we use it) — with the side splash, there wasn’t enough space to put tile (I won’t lie, I wasn’t the most confident in my contractors abilities to do it either) so again, just decided to continue the quartz up. Definitely not the traditional way to do it, but I need this to last several years, and we use our kitchen a lot. So I figured this was the best way to get the most longevity out of our reno. But yeah, I myself would’ve preferred to not have it. Lol. My first choice for backsplash would have been marble - but thinking longevity — we cook with a lot of turmeric , paprika, etc - lots of staining ingredients- so I didn’t want to deal with the hassle of maintaining marble either (backsplash continues behind the stove) Out of all the options at floor &decor, this backsplash seemed to match best at the time. But now I’m just so unsure about it, so I’m just trying to make it work. Here’s picture of wood floor. It’s a townhouse - so foyer , kitchen and dining has same flooring. This pic was taken before backsplash. Thanks again for the input ! Any ideas on grout color? The cabinet color also keeps changing. Some days it looks blue, others a grey blue....See MoreCharlotta Brower
