Help me source an 8-seater round kitchen table!

We just bought a new house and we move in, in early December. We are a family of 5 and we often have parents or in-laws also joining us for dinner, so I'd like something that seats 8 as our main kitchen table. (We also have an 11 X 12 dining room, where I'll put my 6-seater Arhaus table, which can open to a 10-seater.)

I feel like this spot is just begging for a beautiful round pedestal table:

But, it needs to seat 8, which Google tells me is a 60" round, although most photos of 60" rounds only have 4 or 6 chairs around it.

Can you help me find a big round wooden pedestal table (60" or larger) to comfortably seat 8 people at? Does such a thing exist?

Beverly--thanks for the input. What do you mean by "Kind of brutal in its details," concerning the light I was considering for the entry? I like the center left light you have shown, but I don't believe it would work in our entry as the ceiling is two stories tall. Need something that will hang from a chain. The RH pendant I choice for over the island would be the smallest at 7" diameter, 11 3/4" high. Our island is approximately 103"x50" with 8' ceilings. I would go with 2 pendants. The next size up is 13" x 21". Thinking that would be too large. Not feeling the RH pendant for the dining room. DH and I went to light store this afternoon. We were told that for a 10' ceiling, the fixture should be at least 30" tall. Width depends on the width of the table. Ours is 42" wide, so they said fixture should be around 24". We went through catalogs and ended up fining one in the showroom that appealed to both of us, was at the right price, height was correct, but width was too wide. They suggested hanging at 35" above table rather than 30". What do you think of this one? It's from Artcraft. Think I will continue to look...

Don't ya just love looking out the window at them! My fence is very near the north side of my house and in the summer with the windows open I can talk to them while I'm sitting here at the computer. I can see them from the south windows, too, so no matter where I am, I know what they're doing. Yours are QH?

Thank you all! I gravitate towards round tables for ease of conversation, and well, I just like them. Funky, I dream about having a banquette!! I wish this room would accommodate one. We go through that French door to the living room constantly, so putting a banquette under the window (if it would work) wouldn't work logistically. Mrspete, I agree, round seems best! But I might have more flexibility with an oval or rectangle. Maelmodern, I, too, was thinking bench on one side and chairs on the other. That might work best. Fun2b and gray, I will template out a narrow rectangle. I think that might work. I do have some space to play with towards the kitchen island. Lukk, thank you for the pics! Pretty tables. The previous owners had a glass table. It looked great. Martha, I do like oval! I will try and find one that might work. I am leaning towards narrow rectangle and a bench on one side and existing chairs on the other. Off to do some research!

The more I think about it, the more I like the idea. The principal (or the head of the guidance department) will know who is trustworthy, and they can tell you what is a fair wage too. They can even email you photos of bunting decorations for their proms, etc decor and tell you who the students were who were on those decoration committees that might be interested in looking for work. This would not be the right time for you to fall off a ladder, or strain your back from overwork. This would also be helpful for you for later on too, as you might find the strong young man with his friends to rearrange your furniture (for a higher wage) as you change your mind a few times, to mow your lawn, to shovel your snow, and maybe even do some of the gardening. (Just be sure to check the location of the in ground irrigation, the water lines and all other utilities and clearly mark them before you give anyone a shovel.) The energy of older teens is awesome, and their work ethic and ambition should be encouraged, too.

My3Dogs, the style of the ones you linked are spot on, but in order to seat 8, I think they need to be an oval configuration, with the leafs in.

cawaps, you're on the right track size-wise, but those are a bit too contemporary for me .I think the Louisa could read more transitional with some X-back chairs through. Good finds! Even at the 72", the reviews say that it seats 6 comfortably but that 8 would be a tight squeeze.

In an 8-seat round table not a thing? Would an oval look okay in that space?

My experience with round tables that seat 8-10 is all from Chinese restaurants where they put a lazy susan in the middle of the table. I can't tell you the dimensions of the table, but while we often had a full table with extended family, it was only "full", not cramped. I think you need to take the whole family out for Chinese to do some research...and bring a measuring tape.

Thanks, Cawaps! Stay tuned for an updated thread - I'm giving up on tthe round table idea, just too hard to find one large enough to seat large groups... and to your point, if it is large enough, food sharing/passing is an issue.
