No pets, no leaf drop, new growth, flowering and fruiting continues...got some herbs going too..need to start some basil. Heat mats only on standby not used. Lower root lamps come on 1 hour early on morning wake up before upper LED's. Currently on 8 day watering/fertilizer/total spray/wash down with kelp/insecticidal soap schedule, except for a few mini pots.

Comments (16)Hi Herb. If my tufa experience is good I'm adding four of these types to my list of future projects. I like that they could be sand casted without molds I have a great outdoor lighting kit with very crappy plastic fixtures. The fixtures will go in the dust bin and the lights will find a home in tufa. I bought two of these kits years ago and was so disappointed with the first set I never used the second. Comments (2)I have some palms that i am trying out in protected locations, but no actual protection otherwise. Most are marginal here, but readily available at garden centers. Our microclimates are so complex here. Someone on the other side of town might be able to grow something that you have trouble with. Our low this winter was 29F for a bit before sunrise one day. We had a dozen or so frosty mornings and other than that we stayed around 35F. Majesty palm - outer half of fronds damaged, but already has 3 spears as of today and one opening up Foxtail- less hardy than supposed. Four large fronds completely fried, but opening a spear. I moved it to a more protected location with two-story walls on three sides and facing south. Dypsis Decipiens (manambe palm) - seedling, unprotected out in the open - no damage. Kentia Palm - No damage Flame Thrower- No damage King - slight damage I also have these, although these are given in our area: 6 Queens Phoenix Canariensis W. Comments (8)Thanks grandms & mikie. Actually, when I turned on the computer today there was a notice from MS to DL IE7. Must be huge, it took 5 min. with cable connection. I like the ability to make print bigger and smaller. That always worked well on GW and email but didn't work on most sites. But now EVERYTHING is too big. Comments (5)You're not! as it rips up tiny fine root hairs one is trying to grow. I get it's a happy & exciting thing, congratulations, but perhaps this person could practice taking the pix to show roots w/out picking the plant up or even touching it. It sets the plant's progress every time it's picked up, essentially telling the plant it has to re-root & start over....See Morebklyn citrus (zone 7B)
5 years agoI still have to wrap up this Citrangequat , waiting until about Thanksgiving, gonna try and make it dormant first, so,me frost cloth and plastic around the frame. It's growth habit is totally annoying.....

the faux palm is a hemlock, blooming now with 1/2" mini pine cones and that apple is confused bloomed and made more, wonder how big second crop will get before frost
