Response from Ludwig on my 'Found' bulb
Comments (8)I have no idea what kind of red tape and paperwork it takes to register a bulb... patents are expensive, copyrights are cheap... but I'm not sure which is the proper way to go... if it is not currently registered, I'm sure you could find out more about officially naming it. I would think it would take a lot of research into its history, etc... but if it's an antique variety, it's certainly worth saving and cultivating! If you're serious about officially naming it, I'd start by finding out how the pros register their new plant material... there must be a government or official office somewhere... there must be forms to fill out, etc... I'm not sure, but I think if you're going to sell it, profit from it, you might need to go through official channels... I know it's illegal to clone some registered plants, so at the very least, you may want to look into it further... How exciting, though! To actually bring an antique bulb/flower back from the brink of extinction!...See MoreI'm stumped? I found a pit in my back yard
Comments (22)I live in Appalachian Ohio in mine country, and in some parts of our county you need a rider for mines on your home owner's policy. I have to have one at a property I own in town since that section was built over old mines. I also have an old coal bank on my rural property. It was mined privately by an individual, by pick and I'd expect it not to have conventional looking excavating, either. There may be no rhyme or reason why this wasn't just filled in and a piece of wood thrown over it and left to rot. It could be anything, actually including an old dug well or spring or rain water cistern where the bricks had been removed and used for landscaping or something, lol. That's almost the exact measurements for my spring cache basin near the house....See MoreI found my perfect red, somewhere I never thought I would...
Comments (21)modar - I painted my dining room in my last home dark burgundy! Deep, dark red, not purple-ish. My DH thought I was nuts, be he did his best to keep his mouth shut, and he ended up loving it! It was a small room, and I think the color warmed up the space and made it feel cozy and rich at the same time. We got lots of compliments. I chose Georgian Brick for this house because I was trying to coordinate with my brick fireplace and brick floors in another room. I love the color! Good luck with your choices, bloomin......See MoreOh My Gosh! I finally found out what my "mystery" house plant was?
Comments (5)Hi There are several varieties plus many hybrids . I hope the one for your terrarium is a dwarf form. Many get 8/10 feet tall and of equal width lol. Some are almost everblooming often having more flowers than leaves while others develop large heads but less of them. There is also a type with a wonderful aroma .. Would think the dwarf form would be good for a terrarium if it gets enough light ?? Good luck gary...See Moredan1888
