Which brand and color is this cork floor?

It is beautiful. I am looking for a flooring material to go in our kitchen and bathroom that is safe around water but easy on my feet and knees! Most of the cork I have looked at is not this pretty!

Hi Jennifer,

The picture shows the pattern we called Teak Fusion cork flooring. The tough finish that doesn’t fade is called Cork Fusion.

A cork floating floor is quite happy in a kitchen, but we do not recommend Fusion cork in a full bathroom. We have glue down cork tiles would do the work for your bathroom. cork tile is a floor that is designed for full bathrooms.

Forna Cork Fusion cork flooring. they look like a hardwood floor. These exciting new cork floors are Forna’s exclusive design. They are PVC and phthalates free, fade resistant, and warm to walk on, easy to clean, and just plain stunning.

The fusion cork (the really tough finish) is allowed as well, but it NEVER gets coating – ever! In a kitchen or in entranceways (splash zones) all you need to do is use a seam-sealer such as Clic Seal by Unika or Click Guard. You would use the seam sealers in the “splash zone areas” only (do not need it over the whole kitchen…just in front of the sink, under/in front of dishwasher, etc). A tube of seam sealer is roughly $20 and will cover the edges of 50 – 60sf of flooring. This seam sealer would be a great idea in entranceways and in front of sliding glass doors or anywhere you think someone will stand with dripping wet “stuff”.

I can't see any reason you couldn't glue down floating cork but gluing down click lock floors can be difficult. Depending on the edge profile, glue can get in between the edges preventing them from locking down, especially when you're laying the floor backwards (when you have to slide the long edge of the tongue under a board that's already in the glue). It's also more difficult to get the boards slid under jambs and locked properly on the ends. When gluing down click lock floors we sometimes cut off the raised ridge at the edge of the long tongue to facilitate fitting. When doing this you need to make sure to get the pieces tight and possibly tape the surface until the glue sets. Check with the manufacturer of the flooring. I wouldn't rely on what the store salesman has to say. We used Natural Cork brand floating planks in our kitchen 6 years ago. Natural Cork treats (or did at that time) the edges (click together type) with a paraffin sealer.

Hello all I have read some about cork floors here at GW. There isn't a whole lot of information probably because it's not used often as a flooring. We are doing a whole house renovation. And want to put cork in the kitchen/pantry/living room. We've decided on glue-down based on research about moisture etc. but the color we like is hard to find. We only found it at Home Depot!!! Question is: can we glue down cork planks meant to be clicked together? A flooring salesman thought we could and second, is the Home Depot brand not of good quality? If not, we will have to choose another color with another brand, which is not too big of a problem. Any brands recommended?

You have two main points here: Radiant Heating & Sound Proofing.Your best option here is Floor Muffler underlayment. This is certified over radiant heating and is sound proof. You may then use any floating or laminate floor you desire. Here are some suggestions: 1) Mirage Loc is a floating floor that has a real wood wear layer and is very easy to install. It has Maple in natural and five other colors. This product has an HDF core and will be perfect for radiant heating. If you need a floor that is certified over radiant heating, your best option will be BR-111 Triangulo. This is not a click floor but can be floated by gluing the planks together. Hope that helps.
