I think people need pictures plus some kind of drawing indicating the current layout with exact dimensions. Also a budget would be helpful.

Sorry about your foot! Home Depot employees are very much unprepared to deal with incidents considering how dangerous their store is. Years ago I wanted to buy some concrete mesh for tomato cages, but couldn't find anyone to help me. I was trying to figure out how heavy it was... the answer was very heavy and and I accidentally cut a pretty big gash in my finger.

I wound up wondering around the store bleeding fairly badly. When I finally found some employees they just stared at me bewildered for about a minute. I had to start yelling at them to get me some paper towels and take me to the restroom. I have no doubt that if I was serious injured I would have just died right in front of them before they took action (or in the back of the store where there was absolutely no one for 20 minutes).

As far as your bathroom goes, showers are nicer than tubs IMO but make sure you have at least one tub in the house that would work for kids or it will loose value for resale. I agree that you really only have room for a 24" vanity if it is truly only 7'.

It is hard to recommend tile without a picture, but white always looks nice with wood IMO. Or you could do a nice light off white/cream/beige tile. I just redid our upstairs pink monstrosity with a nice modern off white porcelain tile (google" dwell off white tile") that goes nicely with our wooden vanity. I imagine it would look nice with wood tile floors too. Let me know if you want a picture. Good Luck!

Sorry suing them for what? You need to explain that incident alot better IMO. I have always found HD staff very helpful in Canada .

Years ago, I was in a surplus type store and an axe fell from an overhead display. I instinctively raised my hand to protect my head. The axe was sharp. Very cleanly sliced about 3/16" of meat off the inside edge off of my middle finger tip. Kinda' shook me up. Could have been much worse. Still have a slightly wonky looking finger.

Back to the design question (and I'm super sorry your foot got in the way of the falling tile!), I like to work with something OTHER than wood-look in bathrooms. Only if the ENTIRE HOME is covered (or a large section) in the same wood-look tile, would I recommend using wood look in a bathroom. Why? Because it LIMITS the REST of your space. Imagine if you put in wood look tile in ONE bathroom. And then 7 years later you decide to update the entire home and decide you want "wood" (don't care what product...you just want the look). Oh dear! You ALREADY have a small space filled with wood-look stuff. Oh no. There goes the REST of the plan. All because a 35sf bathroom already has something that looks like wood. It is a design faux pas to put one "wood" product up against another "wood" product.

So I vote for another form of tile. I also vote for "shower conversion" if, and ONLY IF, you already have a bath tub somewhere else. So long as your home has ONE tub, all the rest of the bathrooms can either be showers or powder rooms.

And let me tell you, a BEAUTIFULLY DONE shower is MUCH MORE valuable that a cramped bathroom with a tub taking up 1/2 the space.

But to convert the tub to shower, you need to have the full $20K ready to go (and that's a LOW BALL estimate....the average cost to renovate a bathroom = $30K).

Have a look at your budget. You might find that a tub-to-shower conversion isn't in the cards (or the bank account).

It looks to me like you already installed the tile floor, butting up to the bathtub. Is your question whether you should start over and remove the bathtub and do a whole-bath remodel?

Or is your question, which vanity and toilet to choose to go with the new tile?

You haven't stated what kind of style you like, but I'd keep it as simple as possible, because it's a small space, and the floor itself has a lot going on. It's hard to tell on a computer screen about exact shades, but I'd probably go with a painted white or maybe sage green vanity, with unadorned, simple lines. And a white countertop, maybe corian. Again, without knowing your style, I'm a fan of very simple. So tub tile should probably just be white.

The tile is beautiful... I would do a shower as long as there is one tub in the house. Put some beautiful tile work, a nice white base and frameless glass.. It would be great!

You do know that you can go to the Houzz shop section, choose the size of the vanity and other parameters and see a few hundred vanities to choose from, or Build.com or one of many other sites? When people don't give clues about what they want help finding, I never know how to answer them, other than to say, "here is a site, go look and see what you like." If you could say the style you like, if you want painted versus a wood look that goes with your floor, if you want legs on it or wall-hung, or one with a toe kick so that nothing gets underneath it, you would get more help.

Home Depot and Lowe's and Target and your grocery store are self-serve. You have no basis for a complaint against them on which to sue. You picked up more than you could manage. Your fault.
