Wenicit, I'm hitting myself on my forehead right now saying, "Now, why didn't I think of that?" Yes, yes, yes! An iron nightstand would be perfect. The glass part I'm not sure about. Why would it be a PITB? Because of fingerprints? I love the look of the one you linked, and with the weight of the bed itself, it would be nice to keep the nightstands a little airy. I wanted sconces put it, but DH hated the idea of committing to where the bed would be with hardwired sconces because our new room will allow two ways to place the bed. But, I may still look into sconces that get plugged in now that you mention it. I had given up on the idea altogether, but I guess they don't have to be hardwired. Thanks! You have enough room on the left to put a lovely round table, even skirted if you like. I love the woven linen tablecloths on Ballard Design. For me the lamp looks a little skimpy in the base. I think something with color in a gourd shape would look great. You could pick any one of the colors from the rug. Love the bed and bedding.

I have made jar lamps in the past. A fisherman's lamp I used bobbers in the jar and decorated the lampshade accordingly. A golfer's lamp I put practice balls in. My son's lamp I put wooden blocks that spelled his name. I made a kitchen one with dried apples and oranges and put in some small cookie cutters. My MIL collect Coke things and I wrapped some foam balls in Coke material and put those in the base. Other ideas...seashells, buttons, wooden spools wrapped with a piece of plaid material or any country print, glass marbles, you could just change it out seasonally as well. Good luck.

Fun, I love the parallel bed, and would love to have it. It is too big though (at least I think it is). Compare it to the simple platforms: 78" x 89" to 62" x 82". That is a significant difference in a small bedroom, although most of the extra width with the parallel bed is the headboard. The parallel would reduce the space between the end of the bed and the wall from 5'1" to 4'6", and I need to add at least 20" of storage in that space. I know neither simple beds are great beauties, the bed will mostly be about the linens. That said, I do like the dark steel bed with the oak headboard quite a bit. Makes me sad that the min is likely the better choice for the room.
