Edward, I think they would be pink! Actually, I have a certain picture in my mind I guess when I plan a cross. It is based on the faults of a flower. I take it to the extreme sometimes, and I consider both SOT and BC to have the same flaw...not enough edge. I would cross either or both with JTD, and then add the other...(SOT x JTD)BC or (BC x JTD)SOT. Plus, by the time you make the second cross you might have a better eded pink to make the last cross. But if your goal is for color and not the edge, then my plan makes no sense. Ideally, (SOT x BC)Gary Colby would be good, but you did not gain much ground in the (SOT x BC) cross to help GC. Both have good color...so, (SOT x GC) would be better and faster (if the edge matters). So for me, where the edge does matter, I would make many crosses involving all three and get good seedlings to use GC on. Having a bunch of seedling pod parents is important. So, to answer your question in 1000 words or less, I would not make that cross.

Hi everyone! Happy Friday!!! Shirley, so glad they made it :)...and the secret in the soil is...ready...wait for it...wait for it...cow pooh! Yup, cow pooh that is at least 3 years old, so it won't burn the roots. I actually mix it with mulch and dirt, like a dirt smoothie. Works fantastic! and...since its old NO SMELL! There is a mulch store around here that actually sells something very similar to what I have been using for years. I've tried it and that stuff works great too. And best of all, I don't have to do any of the mixing. :) I also split my iris' about every year (or every other). I have a bunch of them so the foliage is a big part of my gardens once they are done flowering. And the nicer it stays the better my beds look. :) Suzanne, your box actually went out yesterday. And I totally forgot, until I got home, that I was suppose to put a del. confirmation on it. I am so sorry! that I forgot. Besides, I got a new glider for my birthday from my MIL and it needs a nice new home :) DH and the kiddos got me a stone bench for the pond and a new bird bath, which is over in my new daylily bed around the pool. :) I also realized that I need to update the pics on my GW page. They are over 2 years old. My BIL put them on there for me, there is no way I could ever figure that out. @john how Define "good". Do they provide soft water? Yes, like any other ion exchange water softer that is properly sized and set up, it will provide soft water. The aren't doing anything that makes the water "more soft". Is it more reliable than other softeners? They are probably more reliable than very low-end water softeners, but very reliable softeners are readily available built with industry standard parts for (Fleck control valves, for example) for not much money. Does it provide better value? Value driven customers can probably do better by ordering a Fleck based softer online from Amazon. Do they provide better service? There's a large network of Culligan dealers who can install and service a water softener. If you need that level of service and want a national brand name, they probably aren't a bad choice. Local water treatment companies can also do a very good job, without the cost of a national brand. So, what sets them apart? Water softening is a commodity business - there's no secret sauce. There's no water softer that's going to make your water "more soft". There are some gimmicks out there - such as twin tanks and units that don't require electricity - that don't provide any real tangible benefits. Some of the hardware is better than others. But there is industry standard, highly reliable and highly serviceable hardware available for moderate cost. They have a memorable brand and a dealer network.

Hi Everyone, We are upgrading our kitchen and I am interested in. 48 inch open burner stove. I am trying to decide between blue star and capital. I am wondering about evenness of the burners. I currently have a midrange GE stove and I cannot stand it because the burners heat unevenly. The rear half of the front left burner is significantly hotter than the front half. Is there a significant advantage to the star shaped burner vs capitals round burners with respect to evenness? I am also interested in how easy it is to control burner output. By this I mean how gradual are the burner attenuators programmed. On my current stove basically most of the control between high and low is actually between 2 and 3. From 3 to high there is not that much change in heat output. Also how low are all of the burners able to go. Any time I need to cook something on low do I have to move it to the summer burner or do all the burners get quite low? Last question is about how powerful is the griddle on the capital stove and do you find it particularly useful? Thank you in advance for any insight you can provide.
