Um, the BLO and turps mix is NOT the reason for the problem. It's a standard, recommended, pre-treatment for extremely old, resinous, (i.e old growth pine, fir or cedar), partly weather-exposed, wood. Besides, that's what's under the still-sticking BM primer and top coats on the other buildings. In my case it is the unsatisfactoriness of the SW paint. The BLO component of the pre-treatment step has recently come into question in some quarters as a possible substrate for subsequent mold issues. However, again, it's under the BM paint with no problems seen. Some people have recently chosen to use organic BLO (it's quite pricey and I don't see a difference in other tests) or use a concoction made partly with Penetrol as recommended by the Forest Service. Old wood -and mine is more than 160 years old - is a very different from modern materials and requires different prep steps. Perhaps the difference between my experience and that of Olhousegal's is that my project preceded the Duration formulation, and of course, I am in a much more severe climate where temps of -25F are routine. The OP and I live in the same region, which is why I piped up with my experience. My steps were the same as OHG's: I painstakingly went back to clean wood, too. That's part of the reason I was so disappointed with the results. L.

As we opened the kitchen into the living room by removing a wall, I plan on painting both rooms Light French Grey with Snowbound Trim. the far wall in the living room (opposite the kitchen) Will have a TV and art on it, and I'd like to make it appear to recede and add some drama to the room. We are getting new furniture, and only have chairs on order so far, with sofa decided, but not upholstery, so everything else is flexible, but going for lighter furnishings. I know we should wait to paint, but my husband may divorce me if we don't get paint on the wall. It's been months with patchy walls from our remodel! He works from home and the unfinished walls are driving him crazy

Extra white looks to be a cool blue white, Pure white feels gray so I would suggest High Reflective White out of the 3 you have mentioned.

Here you go: Primer: SW PrepRite ProBlock Latex White Ceiling: SW SuperPaint Interior Acrylic with Air Purifying Technology Flat Extra White Trim: SW Pro Classic Waterborne Interior Acrylic Enamel Extra White My contractor deals with SW so I got his discount there. I actually have always used BM paint, so all my walls are BM colors, and the SW Extra White looks beautiful with all of them. I’m very pleased with the application of both brands. So far I’ve used BM Balboa Mist, BM Proposal, BM Beacon Gray, and am now considering BM Portland Gray. I should be done painting all the rooms in January. Hope that helps.
