Rookie Mistake I Don't Know How I Should Fix
Comments (4)Steve, I have supports that have 3 flat sides, like a long triangular shape. It opens so that I can position 1 side against the plant, then the second, then the third. I use these in self-watering containers and it works very well. I imagine you could get them on even a relatively large plant....See MoreTree I should know but don't
Comments (14)Hmm, I had posted another response but it doesn't seem to be here. It's not citrus, nor like any pittosporum or scaevola I've ever seen (we have lots of both around here, especially the "bad" scaevola). I know those well. I don't think it's mastwood--no flower racemes (I walk by these trees daily and the flowers are so inconspicuous I've never noticed one--nothing till the fruit appears, so they must very small and shy), thick leathery leaves, and the fruit doesn't turn brown and husky like mastwood. I had thought of autograph tree, but I didn't think those fruited. As for pitch apple, the fruit looks just like in the picture till it falls from the tree--never gets rosy or splits open to release seeds. (Golf ball to small tennis ball sized fruit in ones or twos, not clusters) At least I don't feel so ignorant now. Thanks for all the suggestions....See MoreI Don't Know What I Don't Know About Mini Fridges
Comments (9)Hi Plllog! "That is, I know it's possible, but might not be in your budget." See, there's the crux of it. This little beverage center idea of mine was not in the original budget. (Nor, alas, were new drywall in the livingroom and halls, the gorgeous walnut top on my used cabinet island, the matching gorgeous top that will soon be on the new media cabinet and the near full gut of the bathroom.) And we're still determined to get through remodeling our ugly duckling without taking out a loan or dipping into savings. Conventional wisdom says: Wait until the coffers are full again but that's so hard to do. First off, I'm a cheapskate. Even if the goose who laid the golden egg waddled up onto my deck and built a nest, I'm not sure I would willingly pay someone to mess up the walls I just paid to fix. Second, I'm not quite cheap enough. My new kitchen is starting to look pretty good but, gosh, it would look so much better if the microwave and coffee maker didn't take up so much room on that one counter. I'm willing to spend a little bit more to change that, especially since I'm going to have a piece of countertop leftover that should be just the right size. Still, it's nice to know that it's possible. Maybe when the coffers ARE full again I'll put a tile counter outside on my deck to shade the golden goose should she happen to wander by ;) Thanks for your help!...See MoreI don't know if I should hug you all or put a pox on you ;)
Comments (13)@practigal, I think one reason it is so addicting is because it's so casual. Like having coffee with a friend while doing easy work. It's not like trying to figure out a whole house floor plain - and construction started yesterday, or problem solve an issue with a sub contractor that just cost you multiple thousands of $'s on a botched tile installation. I know we have stressful issues, but maybe not as often compared to some of the other forums on GW. So the laundry forum is usually light hearted and our clothes survive the crappy detergent with the horrible smell (that Larsi discribes so well ;-0...See More- 7 years ago
