Comments (34)Hmmmm. Seattle is a city that is known as an area full with back to nature, earthy-crunchy types for lack of better words. It would not seem like a place that regulations would allow for negative effects to the environment through development. My belief is that there is a sensible reason for this. That is to promote high density in some areas and deter development in others. Severe work is done on small areas to preserve the large. In some areas there is 2 acre lot zoning, That means that every time a house is built 2 acres is attached to each house. Build 50 houses and 100 acres is consumed. In Seattle, it might be possible that they put those 50 houses on 12 acres close to infrastructure instead of sprawling out over many acres of rural land. Sometimes it makes sense to devastate a small area in order to save a greater resource - the large urban tree vs. the large forest near the city. Comments (3)Hi Zep516, Click on the IM icon on your taskbar. Click preferences. Under sign on/off, uncheck "start AIM when windows starts". Click apply/ok. Reboot your computer. See if that clears up your problem. That is what I was trying to explain that there is no check mark in "start AIM when windows starts". It is blank. My aim : Edit Options : Edit Preferences : Sign On/Off : Unchecked "Make aim my default instant messaging program Click OK Yes, that is how it is setup. Even with all this set like it is suppose to be, I am still getting the sign on box popping in when I go into OE. That is what I was talking about everything is set up to keep it from popping up but, it is doing it anyway and I can't figure out why, it shouldn't be happening. I do have two versions of AIM but both are set up the same way. I have even removed the welcome part of it and put a dot on none and clicked save, still the sign on box pops in when I open OE. This is why I am confused because it is all set up for it not to open the sign on box but it does it anyway. Comments (6)I don't have enough experience with the actuality of it to answer your question accurately, but I suspect it's that the surface temperature would have been 140 rather than the interior temperature. Pork is a lot denser than mayonaise. Roccocogurl is right that cooked is cooked--if it was cooked through you wouldn't have had any undercooked pork problems. Also, reheating it to good and hot would have killed anything that might have been growing. But there is a whole different set of food safety temperatures for storage, which is what warming for 4 hours is. I'm sure Wolf know what they're talking about if they say 160 for pork (they have a**-covering to do with their insurance companies and wouldn't publish it if it didn't come from a reliable source like NIH). It's actually probably the surface temperature that's important for holding, anyway, because the item has just been cooked. I remember reading that Miele ovens were true (on average) to +/-7 degrees, which is very accurate for ovens. But it also means that if yours is right on the mean, set at 140 it might only be 133 degrees in the oven. In addition, there may be some inefficiencies with warming in an oven rather than a warming drawer, though I would think that 4 hours would be long enough for the temperature to stabilize. OTOH, your own oven might have more like 15 degrees of variability. Or might even need to be calibrated. Miele have a great customer service reputation. You might try calling them. You might want to check if NIH or FDA have guidelines on the internet, and use those and your Wolf chart to learn the ins and outs of using your new oven for warming....See MoreA terrific message about getting off your computer/Ipad/phone
Comments (23)I saw the article earlier and shared it on my FB page. I raised 3 children starting in 1968 and managed to do a darn good job without having any kind of social media at the end of my arm. I know my personality and think I would have had trouble giving either one, but not both at the same time, the attention they deserved. I personally know of young mom's and dad's who are more interested in posting their every move to the world rather than being aware of missed moments or opportunities to spend that time interacting with real, live people in their presence.. And to say "checking on prices at a store" is a serious reason to have your phone out in front of you is not valid to me. I hate to see a group at a table at a restaurant where everyone has their phone in their hands, barely even eating.....sad in my opinion.
