Are you quilting this weekend? July 19-21
Comments (15)Jennifer can't wait to see your quilt. We have gotten rain 5 evenings in a row this week. As a result of all that rain my pink dinnerplate hibiscus has a couple of large seed pods forming, so hoping in the near future that I will be able to collect seeds off of it. I am thinking about WS some ROS this winter for my brother and neighbor and may do some for me to keep as well. Well yesterday was day 2 of school shopping, and still have one more day of shopping to do. My child hates to try on shoes and clothes so we break it into multiple afternoons of shopping. M-I-L is back home and she is more stubborn than my son so it helps to have her with me when we do school shopping. I am making good progress on Christy's grandbaby quilt. Only have 6 granny square blocks left to hand-quilt on her quilt; really hoping to have the hand-quilting done by the end of July. It is miserably hot here, but we always in months of July and August have temps in high 90's to triple digits and usually we have no rain during these months, but am so thankful for the 5 evenings of rain we have had this week. We have the AC set on 72*F but parts of the house we are having to run ceiling fans in and keeping most of the lights off in the house to keep things cooler. I am so ready for cooler fall weather, September is usually a month of shorts and flip flops here, but usually October starts to cool down a little. There is stuff I want to do in my flower garden, but it will have to wait until October/November when it starts to cool off. We had a good visit with S-I-L and her family earlier today and this afternoon DH and DS and M-I-L and F-I-L are off to visit my other S-I-L and her kids and grandkids. I stayed home so I could finish washing sheets and get the beds remade and to work some on Christy's quilt. A nice quiet afternoon to sit and quilt. :-) Best to you, Sandra...See MoreAre you quilting this weekend? Sept. 19-21
Comments (8)LindaOH - I hope everything goes well on the sale of your house. It can be frustrating, I am sure! Lois - how exciting to spend 3 months in Hawaii. Do you have family there? Toolgranny - I hope they pass you over quickly so you can get back to your quilting stuff! :) Sounds like everyone has lots of fun stuff planned! My sister & husband arrived here Thursday and will be leaving in the morning. I will pick up the 18 vest & 6 aprons I sewed for our Lions club from the silkscreener, so I just need to add the Lions club patches to the vests. Then I hope to get a little bit of quilting in. I actually started piecing something for the retreat challenge - we will see how it goes and if it gets finished. I have a pile on the floor of things that I am getting together to take to the retreat. We leave here a week from tomorrow so I have a lot to finish! Sue...See MoreAre you quilting this weekend? Comments (20)Donna, I'm sorry to hear about your mother, I hope she recovers quickly. Linda, what a cool quilt! I have a friend who has a birthday in November, and he hinted that he wanted a quilted tote bag so I've been playing with half and quarter square triangles... they aren't perfect, but I'm learning. He plays the piano and sings and his favorite color is pink and he likes rainbows, so I though this would be an appropriate fabric selection.... Not sure if I'll have it done by the 4th... I'm not going to get to work on it tomorrow because I'm going to Ocala to visit my grandmother... she hand quilts (only), and I'm going to bring my rail fence to show her... not done yet, but it's a work in progress. I nearly had a heart attack last night... I was surfing Craig's List for sewing machines as I frequently do, and found an add for a Bernina 820. I thought they were asking 500 dollars, and just before my heart stopped, I realized there was a 3 in front of the five! Oops... glad I didn't e-mail them! Not quite ready to spend almost as much on a sewing machine as a cheap used car!...See MoreAre you quilting this weekend? January 19-21
Comments (8)After no heat Wed & Thursday (furnace crapped out), and a new furnace/ac unit installed Friday, I spent today putting the lower level back in order. Had to redo the laundry/furnace room, reload the bookshelf that blocks the rear door entry to the furnace, etc. I also ended up cleaning out & reorganizing the spare bathroom (aka storage room) and the closet under the stairs. Then I carted someone to/from work, dropped DS at is Boy Scout camping event. Tonight I hope to finish the binding not he Girl Scout quilt. Tomorrow I have to work up a cost comparison so we can figure out how to price this quilt for sale. Never a dull moment in this circus!!...See Moremsmeow
