Do you wear Charm Bracelets?
Comments (34)The true Pandora can be expensive; if you like the look, but want to start a charm bracelet less expensively, I would recommend DiVinci at the Hallmark stores. DD and I discovered the line while Christmas shopping and ironically, we both ended up getting each other a bracelet and just a few starter pieces. I think I spent less than $60 for a toggle bracelet, two stopper end pieces, 2 stones in the sea blue family and 2 in the green family, and 1 dangle charm. Check out the cute little "2 peas in a Pod" dangle - that's the one I got her representing her marriage. Of course they are not real gold or silver, but they are fun. I wear mine 2-3 times a week and it is holding up well. These would be fun gifts for tweens and teens who don't take care of expensive jewelry, or just anyone who likes cute, cheap jewelry (me). Comments (17)I have an armoire and two other tabletop jewelry boxes with drawers for the earrings. The armoire was a gift from my husband for Christmas a few years ago. Like most armoires on the market, there really is not that much space inside. He picked it out so didnÂt realize its shortfalls. It has a couple of deep drawers on the bottom that are useless for jewelry. The top lifts for one area about 10 x 10 inches, and then there are 4 drawers underneath. Not nearly enough space. The earrings are more or less layered a couple deep in there. The favorite earrings go into the easier access smaller jewelry boxes. I used to use the top drawer of my dresser laid out inside with divider trays. But that is full and most of those are vintage or styles that are too big now. IÂm thinking about redoing it for more space but hate to just give away such great earrings. I need to find a place to sell the vintage-almost vintage. For earrings: Have you ever seen in jewelry stores in the cases those black trays with small square dividers in them? Those are available from most store display companies, and all jewelry display companies. The trays are heavy fiberboard covered with black leatherette and come in standard sizes so inserts will fit any companyÂs tray. Full size insert is 14-1/8" x 7-5/8". IÂve linked below to one trade companyÂs offerings but I have seen these on Ebay too. The inserts are thin flexible molded plastic, grey or black, flocked, but I use the inserts without the tray, cut out and fitted to my drawers. I have a couple of shallow inexpensive birch plywood drawer units from Ikea I may fit out with the inserts, if I can figure out where to put them. I can't figure out how to put 2 links in, so the first is the tray, the linked one is the insert. https://www.riogrande.com/home/MemberArea/ProductPage.aspx?assetname=40500011&page=GRID&free_text%7c1225997955840=tray https://www.riogrande.com/home/MemberArea/ProductPage.aspx?assetname=40481015&page=GRID&free_text%7c1225998035811=gray+insert For the necklaces I donÂt have a place to "hide" them so I need something pretty attractive. I bought some rubbermaid shallow drawers to try out inside my closet but if I have to open several drawers to find the one I want, I find it doesnÂt happen. I really want to see the whole necklace collection all at once, and to see the length at a glance. Comments (46)lkplatow - what a lovely and thoughtful gift. I am sure your MIL will be thrilled. You will be giving a gift that can be built upon not only by you, but now friends and other family members can purchase a charm or two for special occasions. Someone posted about the other brands of this bracelet being inferior as they aren't solid sterling (for the silver as opposed to the gold Pandora). While I am not sure about Trolls or Brighton, I did check out Kohl's silver version of this bracelet. and it is, in fact, solid sterling. The price point of the Individuality Bracelets and beads (Kohls)is a more affordable option for anyone who wants this type of bracelet in silver, but doesn't want to spend Pandora-type $$. As far as the durability of the glass beads - I've had mine for quite a few years and haven't yet had a glass bead break or chip. I have both Pandora and other brand glass beads. I am very hard on my jewelry, and don't remove it to wash dishes, etc. I like that you've chosen the sea turtle charm as one of the starter charms for your MIL's bracelet. Very thoughtful to personalize the bracelet with something you do together as a family. As a matter of personal choice, I think this type of bracelet is so much more versatile than the "Nomination" or stretchy charm bracelet that came out about 10 or so years ago. While I do have one of those, I never wore it as frequently as I wear my Pandora. For me, it is like comparing apples and oranges. Since I have accumulated many different colored glass beads, so I can make combinations of colored beads mixed with the other charms when I want to compliment a color I may be wearing. Personally, I don't like my bracelet full of charms, but prefer it only half filled. Happy Holidays!...See MoreJewelry Boxes-Necklaces
Comments (13)Wanda, my outlook on a burglar coming in is to make it as difficult as you can for them. If they break into my home I don't think they will spend much time looking for jewelry, because of the electronics. I think they will grab that and run. LOL I also leave some lights on at night and have hung HUGE wind chimes from the wooden slate covering my window wells. they won't like the noise when they try to lift out the cover. And when my pup grows up I don't think they will want to meet her even if she is a poodle, she will be big....See MoreUser
