I have a piece of pegboard mounted on my closet wall, with the pegboard hooks from Home Depot. I store all my jewelry there - closet door closed, no worries about my cats messing with them. :)

Teresava, have you looked into a jewelry armoire? I love mine! And if you don't have room for a piece of furniture they also have them that mount on the wall as a mirror.

I have the jewelry armore. It has sides that open on both sides with hooks to hand the necklaces. It also has about 5 drawers with 3 deeper ones. These are lined with dividers (not adjustable). For the older and better built ones, check garage sales, estate sales, and I have seen them at KMart or ?? I have had mine for years and it goes to my DD later. It is not real big.

Oh, I have the perfect answer for you! I have three of these from eBay, and if you want it a little more customized she will do it for you. I had the last one made with pouches for heavier turquoise pendants to slip in to.

You can get any color of mesh she offers with any color balls on the end of the dowels.

Bed bath and beyond has a lot of jewelry organizers. If you have drawer space you can lay necklaces in thin stackable trays. I have hooks on my walk in closet wall that I hang mine on.

I have one also it stands about 3 feet tall and about 20 some inches wide with drawers and sides that open for hanging necklaces I think I paid about $135 from Home Shopping years ago, really a nice piece of small walnut furniture everything is closed up so it is dust protected

I have an armoire and the bag that hangs on a clothes hanger and I put a tshirt and button shirt over it. I like my better stuff hidden. It is just better costume jewelry, but I like it and don't want to make it easy for someone to steal it. I don't like the armoire as well as the hanger.

The hanger is about 7 rows down and in the middle of the row.

I made something for my bracelets that could be adapted for necklaces. I took a cheap picture frame and my DH cut a piece of ceiling tile to replace the picture. I put some cute decos I found in the scrapbook aisle and hot glued them to clear push pins. I was going to cover the ceiling time with some pretty fabric but never got around to it.

When I worked (and wore necklaces every day), I put hooks in the side wall of my closet for my necklaces. I have quite a few, and most were expensive. I figured a thief may look behind clothes, which would expose the back wall; but would probably not slide clothes to one side to see the side wall.

I was never robbed (thankfully), so don't know if my logic was logical!

Wanda, my outlook on a burglar coming in is to make it as difficult as you can for them. If they break into my home I don't think they will spend much time looking for jewelry, because of the electronics. I think they will grab that and run. LOL

I also leave some lights on at night and have hung HUGE wind chimes from the wooden slate covering my window wells. they won't like the noise when they try to lift out the cover. And when my pup grows up I don't think they will want to meet her even if she is a poodle, she will be big.

I got one of those jewelry trees for Christmas last year and I must say that it looks great with all the lovely, colorful necklaces hanging there on my dressing table. However, the downside is the fact that they're usually covered in a fine coating of DUST! This is something I had not considered, but dust is always a problem here in the desert. In other parts of the country, not so much.
