Comments (1)Check for spider mites. You have to look very closely. It's usually easier to see the webs than the mites but you can see both if you look closely enough. Carole...See MoreKumquat leaves turning orange / yellow and dropping
Comments (20)Hi, I live in Saigon where it is hot and humid. I have a kumquat tree in a pot on my balcony which I got at the end of June last year. It arrived in a black plastic sack and looked a bit sorry. I planted it in a largeish pot with fresh compost and it responded by growing loads of new leaves, and after a couple of months it was covered in flowers which filled the balcony with lovely scent. Then came the fruit. About six weeks ago the leaves turned yellow and a few dropped. The leaves have white/grey flecks, which are a leaf coloration and not mites or anything like that. About two weeks ago it started to flower again and now we have what looks like a sick tree with both flowers and fruit on it. I have attached a link to a pic of the leaf coloration (its in my drop box). Can anyone please advise how to make my tree healthy again? Here is the link in case the URL thingie doesnt work: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/rs9koslt4zhsdtc/AAAZfjbzrplMAIo2xJY7npkia?dl=0 Here is a link that might be useful: CIMG1580.jpg This post was edited by eodmatt on Sun, Feb 1, 15 at 6:36...See MoreKumquat Redish and Falling Leaves
Comments (5)Raid, hope you don't mind...I just inserted it directly to the link, so we can see it right away...I had no way of making smaller...I only know how to insert it directly, sorry... It might be fertilizer burn? Not for sure, but sometimes this has happened to me when I use a strong fertiler or use it too often, the tips turn reddish brown. Best thing to do is what Toni suggested, cut back on fertilizer amounts/frequency. Water when soil is almost completely dry...then water in thoroughly to flush out the salts from the excess fertilizer. What fert. are you using? Not saying this is the problem, but possibly? Good luck!...See MoreHELP Kumquat tree losing all its leaves
Comments (3)TOO MUCH WATER This is almost alway a problem for us northerners because our trees must be able to take a few days with out watering on our hottest days. Here is what I do that works wonders and makes it possible to leave my tree alone for 4 days in upper 90F weather in the summer. Both tangerine trees are 49 weeks old from seed sprout. I use a shop vac plug into GFI now to protect from water that might drip from pot. My trees are also now permanently place on the vacuum chamber bucket for the cold season 'no setting up necessary". 10 seconds morning 10 seconds evening brings me close to my tree 2 times daily to catch problem while they are small. \vacuum chamber hold pot off cold floor. I mulch the surface to hold down evaporative cooling. A fan will do a fantastic amount to draw moisture from the leaves. This will draw much more on the water in the soil. Works best with leaves on the tree before they drop. Don't change your soil now but wait till spring and use what I am using to get you through the winter....See MoreBleu (Zone 9b - So Cal)
