Why are you going to Microsoft.com to download iTunes? It's an Apple product, not a Microsoft product.

The error message is saying that firefox.exe can't run, which is odd.

I echo the previous comment, get iTunes from the Apple site. But use a different browser.

I have iTunes on two different Win10 PCs. I had no issue to install nor to use. If I recall correctly, you've had problems with this PC with Win 10 and I have to think there are a lot of squirrelly, non-standard settings involved from the setup. I have PCs in the house (including desktops, laptops, and a server) ranging from Win7 to 10 and if you went from using one to another to another, you'd never know which is which. The operating system version should be invisible to the user with only very minor differences when staying within one family (Microsoft or Apple).

I can’t figure out what is wrong with this machine. I’ve tried going to Apple first with the same result. This has been going on for 3 months. After visiting Apple store, they arranged for a phone consult who could view my computer. He tried all sorts of thing to no avail. He said I have to download from the MS Store for the app. We tried and didn’t work.

If there is a Win10 "app" for iTunes, I'd avoid it. I'd also avoid getting Windows help from an Apple source.

Download the "program" from the link to Apple website provided above. It runs just fine on WIn10. It's really a trivial matter (unless there's something majorly wrong with your PC, unlikely) and not something you should have needed to spend more than 10 minutes dealing with.

Do you have any younger family members or friends nearby who can help you with PC matters? There are several remote access programs available that are safe and very effective. I use TeamViewer with a couple of tech challenged family members who live too far away to go visit and I can do anything to their PCs from the comfort of my own home, as if I were sitting in their homes.

I've been using iTunes with all my Windows computers (back at least to Windows 2000) and have had no problem with downloading and installing iTunes. Always used the default browser (Internet Explorer until Windows 10, then Edge).

mtvhike, I have also. Never had a problem installing.

This is different, it will not install.

I've given up after trying numerous work-arounds.

I'll have to use another computer to copy my photos to an external hard drive.

Do you have the iCloud application on your computer?

Does the computer have Bluetooth to transfer that way? If not Bluetooth adapters that plug into the USB are cheap and work really good. Mary

Yes, to both questions. However, the computer does not recognize the iPhone. When plugged in, it doesn’t show. Ive tried the phone on other computers and it works perfectly. Just not on my laptop.

I was told by Apple and Microsoft that I need iTunes installed (makes no sense) and it will not install on the computer. Tried various work arounds.

@dadoes Not sure that you can get iTunes for Windows from Apple anymore? Every time I go to their site for it, I'm re-directed to the MS Store to install from there.

@jane_ny The iTunes app includes the drivers that Windows uses to recognize your iPhone, so that is why they say you need to install iTunes.

Windows versions of iTunes are indeed available from Apple.

The redirect to the Microsoft site is, I believe, for the app only, rather than versions of the program. Windows versions of iTunes are available from Apple on this page:

I myself am using iTunes ver 10 (the current one is 12-something) in program form (not an app) on a PC with Win 10. This old iTunes version is >6 years old. It runs fine. Why do I use it? It's easier to use and I like its UI and features better than later versions (that I have on other PCs). I won't give it up until I have to.

Interesting, wonder why Apple is hiding those from the normal iTunes download page.

Also, I'm even more surprised that the installs are different between the 'desktop version" available form apple and the "modern version" from the MS Store. It seems the "modern version" available form the MS Store is slimmer in terms of bloatware that some of us don't care for. I might actually switch.

I'm using iTunes version 12.9 on my Win 10 PC and it works fine, although, like Elmer, I prefer the older UI. One thing I don't like about it is that it always asks me to sign in to my apple account. I don't have to, but if I don't, it keeps asking.

You do not need itunes to get your pictures from an iphone. You just need the cord that goes on the plug to charge it. Remove the plug and plug the charging end into your phone and the usb that was attached to the plug, to plug into your computer. It should come up in your window in myPc , and on my windows 10, it looks like a computer tower towards the bottom on the left hand corner. I double click on that, and it does take a few minutes for it to come up for some reason. Then I click on the folder that is in there and all the pictures are there. I put a folder for them on my desktop before I even plug it in, and name it iphone pictures, and the date. I use select all, and right click and copy (or cut) if you want to remove them all and then go to the folder I have made and choose paste, and they all transfer into that folder. I have itunes, on 3 different computers. It works fine, to play music etc, but, my iphone will not work with it, on any of the computers. All settings in the phone are correct. I can use any of the 3 computers to transfer the pictures, by the method above. One computer windows 10 64 bit, and one Vista 32 bit, and one XP 32 bit. It works the same on all of them. My last transfer was to the windows 10 on the 17th of this month.
