Spanish Revival/Mexican/Mediterranean Style - Part X
Comments (15)Thanks for all the kind sentiments about our babies. I am sleep-deprived but very happy. :-) Well...I just HAD to get some Mexican flair in at least one room of this house and I chose the nursery to do that in. I didn't quite get the nursery done before their births due to bedrest so it's still a work in progress. The walls are painted orange (gasp!) and the window treatment includes Mexican paper flowers. One of the walls has the beginnings of a Mexican Tree of Life with paper birds, tin milagros (from the twins' godmother by way of Albuquerque), a Cuzco-style oil of the Santo Nino (I bought it while in San Miguel Dec 06...hoping for a pregnancy miracle) and not sure what else I'll be adding to the tree. I'll post some progress photos. It's taking me much longer than I anticipated. Where are you all and where are all the photos?????...See MoreExterior Lights for Mediterranean Style Home
Comments (5)Yeah, I'm also worried you might be looking at lights that are too small. What's there now is definitely too small! When you look for new outdoor lights, choose fixtures that are a quarter to one-third the garage door's height. They may look a little large when you're close up, but remember these lights need to be seen from far away too. (Advice comes from our light sizing guide.) If you'd like to look at some lighting recommendations once you've determined a good size range for your lanterns, let me know!...See MoreMediterranean Style Exterior Window and Landscaping Ideas
Comments (10)I agree with Patricia that the dark beams aren't necessary. I did think it looked a little incomplete to not darken the beams if you have dark trim, but that wouldn't be my preference anyway. I would play up the Mediterranean style in the landscaping and make it more free-form with lavender, sage, and maybe an Italian cypress if that works in your zone. Just adding more colour and texture there makes a good bit of difference. I think I still prefer the added character of traditional Mediterranean blue trim. Of course, it really depends on your neighborhood and the style you're going for....See MoreRoofing metal options. For Spanish mediterranean look
Comments (12)Thanks guys for your help! We are thinking this as our forever home. Brava is one of the samples un the video below Elle. We are documenting our journey on YouTube. And when working with our architect on floorplans. The trusses lumber package came up with clay obviously having to reinforce the roof with the weight. Plus the snow issue. So we are looking at alternatives Brava( i think brava is the synthetic) . Deccra ( metal with stone covered). and Berridge ( is the metal one. .
