Drapery ideas for dining room
Comments (10)Actually the windowpane check fabric looks very country casual. Just ditch the tiebacks and valances. The look will be more open if you simply use one panel in the areas where they've used two. When you pull the panels back so they cover less of the window, you can get stops to put on the rods that keep them from moving. I'm guessing you may want to replace the rods with something decorative since now they're out of sight and may be very utilitarian. Spend the money saved on a new chandelier. That one is terrible and not country casual at all. I prefer light to shine upward at the dining table. Harsh down-facing light can wash out food colors and can cast bad nose and hair shadows on the diners' faces....See MoreDining Room Drapery Doubts - Need fun and simple look

Comments (7)I would get a new light that is LED 3500 K and in a style that actually lights the table. I would paint the walls the cream from the rug and then do pale blue silk drapes I love the rug it is IMO the best thing in the space and honestly if you don't use the DR why not do 4 chairs and a coffee table and some nice bookshelves and use as a nice spot for a glass of wine before dinner and a library all the rest of the time or jusrt anice spot to relax in the afternoon....See MoreDining Room Window - Built ins or Drapes?
Comments (4)There have been issues with getting pictures to post on this site recently. If you weren't able to, please try again later. I can say that in general, if you have something to display, built-ins can be a good idea. If you don't, there is no need to have them. They are certainly not done in dining rooms very often anymore, although I loved the ones I had in my 1945 house. If you can upload a picture of the room later you will get more responses. If your table is not in the room you need to also post a picture of it or let us know what style you're interested in achieving....See MoreJudy Mishkin
