No matching king shams - what to use instead?
Comments (10)Another solution...Although I have a king-size bed and sleeping pillows, I like the look of a coverlet rather than a full length bedspread. So...I've bought the queen size bedspreads and matching queen shams. Instead of stuffing pillows into the shams, I've just added matching fabric in a vertical band to attach the 2 shams together which widens them to king-size. To make the bed I place my sleeping pillows upright on the bed, and then lay the unstuffed set of shams over the sleeping pillows. In front of those I have 2 king-size solid color stuffed (non-sleeping pillows inside) shams. THen decorative pillows as desired. It's easy and quick and because I tend to use the same set of colors, the solid color shams have been reused a number of times. Fabric to coordinate with the matching shams have come from different sources. I've had to shorten bedskirts, so several times I've been able to use the coordinating left over bedskirt fabric to attach to the shams, you only need a strip of about 6-7 inches wide by the height of the shams. If you need a visual, I'll be happy to take a picture to share with you. Helene...See MoreShams on a King size bed
Comments (2)I use 3 sleeping pillows on my king bed. Usually buy sheets in a set which of course includes two king pillow cases. Then I purchase an extra set of matching regular pillow cases to take care of the third one. I do have two king size cheap pillows that I put in the shams (which are for decor only, of course, and get thrown on the rug at the foot of the bed at night) but 3 regular would probably work better. Where my two king pillows in the shams don't quite "cover" the width of the bed, I place a decorative throw pillow. Tuesday...See Morepillow arrangements for king bed-pictures?
Comments (10)Thanks for the nice comments, I will see what I can do. Superchick - "DANG" you made me laugh when I read your post, and Oceanna, you do have wonderful gallery threads on just about everything. Threegrad, I like your furry pillows too and your kittys. Hondagirl, didn't mean to get off topic, sorry. Did you figure out your pillows?...See MorePillow Shams question
Comments (3)We always use king size pillows even on our non king beds because they're more comfortable. My son with a twin bed has a king pillow! I buy extra white or blue king pillow cases because we can never use the twin or queen cases that come with the sheets. I'd just buy king size pillows that you use for decoration. They'll cover the queen bed so much nicer anyways!...See MoreUser
