I just buy mine from Dollar Tree, they work just fine or get them from Walmart. I don't think there is a problem with the silicone ones. I have the ones your put your fingers in.

I haven't been using the red pincher style silicone that came with my Instant Pot. They work very well.

I like the silicone square Charlotte brought with her, when she moved in here, we use it mostly as a spot to put a hot pan on. But I totally dislike the nasty (stained and worn) oven mitts she has/uses.

I crochet pot holders, and have 2 in different hues of yellow and orange variegated yarn, with a border of yellow.

I made them for myself, after I moved in here, thus, they are 2 years old, and still look really nice.

I prefer using them.

We use silicone squares and silicone mitts, both with bumps on them. We have several of each. Sure, non-slip gripping and no heat conduction problems. We also use the flat ones as informal trivets for hot items too.

They're fast and easy to wash with dish detergent when they get dirty/greasy, as they invariably do. They're inexpensive and last forever.

I put my silicone pot holder in the dishwasher.

I have the siicone mitt, but prefer the little ones with rubber on the thumb and palm.

Oklamoni, my wife is wondering what happened to the crocheted pot holder her grandmother made. It used to hang, unused, on a hook in the kitchen, but it has disappeared. How can things just evaporate into the ether like that?

My mom crochets pot holders and I love them. I have about 5 in my drawer and both of my daughters have some at their apartments. My mom makes them for all of her grand kids.

I prefer the silicone ones, have used them for years. (I also don't have a dishwasher.) They're easy to clean, you can use them wet (unlike fabric ones, where the wet turns to steam and burns your hand) and it's no biggie if you accidentally get an edge in the lasagne for instance- just wipe it clean and keep going.

I had several that Tami crocheted for me. I lost all but one of them. My most frequently used ones are the short padded ones with the rubber coating that you just fit your fingers into. I also have some of the silicone type.

I crochet potholders. The square that you can make as large as you want.

I throw my silicone gloves and pot holders into the washong machine. Clean up perfectly-even when really greasy lifting whole turkeys or roasts. I got the thicker ones cuz sone of the thin cheapies do transmit heat. I've tossed everything but silicone!

I use silicone potholders. When baking I love my heat resistant knit 'Ove' Gloves. The silicone mitts don't fit my small hands well.

Got to say it, I'm am surprised and a bit dismayed about all silicone love going on here! What's wrong with good ole fashioned thick cotton terrycloth, for pete's sake!!!

I'll be in the same boat sooner rather than later of needing to get new potholders. I've tried them, and I don't like either the thick silicone or the gloves that cover my whole hands because too much thickness or stiffness interferes with my grip. So I will look for thick but flexible cotton cloth squares -- I hope they are still available somewhere!

I found them years ago on the clearance at Walmart for a few bucks. I do buy the cotton or wool loops. The loops that usually come with this are polyester. I really like the wool loops. Once in awhile I'll buy a bag of loops and the boys enjoy making them. Cheap, easy, and fun for the boys.

I also have a few from the dollar store but they are polyester so I don't like them. I have caught them on fire.

Like Nickel I prefer the old fashioned cotton squares but darn if I ever see them anywhere.

mamapinky, I was going to try to describe the little metal frame you just posted. We had several in the house when we were kids, and would frequently make potholders as Christmas gifts. From what I recall, rather than buying the loops, we would make them by cutting up holey or unmatched socks.

I love this one. I have no idea what the brand is but it is thick heavy fabric with silicone beads. Not an ove glove but similar and thicker. You can wear it on either hand and wash. I also have some really thick terry cloth insulated ones I bought several years ago at BB&B that have held up well to many washings but are beginning to fray on the edges.

Since I use cotton washcloths and hand towels in the kitchen they are always scattered about and I just fold them as needed to the right size. Searching for a pot holder takes to long. I have some of those too. I will sample weave structures in heavy cotton like Sugar and Cream to try out patterns. That makes good heat pads as well.
