Comments (17)Perhaps this is another opportunity to laud the Rose Forum of the National Garden Association where many of us have joined (Jeri, Lisa, Nippstress, MustbNuts, Christopher and many more whose names escape me at the moment. It's a very friendly and easy to use forum, pictures are easy to load and there are no ads! You can be from overseas also, Marlorena, so I hope everyone has a look-in to decide whether they might decide to join. Anything new is never comfortable right away, and this has been my home for so long that I'm really sorry to part ways. I'm still going to answer posts here but I don't think I'll ever start a new post. Houzz has just worn me down with their ineptitude and lack of genuine concern for the gardenweb users, but it's difficult to wrench myself away. Perhaps it will be easier if I meet more of you over there!...See MoreDaylilies with more then 15 characters
Comments (15)Thanks everyone for your comments. I like red, but it's only certain shades of daylily red. To me, as a rose grower, there is nothing more beautiful then a big crimson red rose. Hard to compete with them in that color range. But the orange reds in daylilies such as Wayah Valley are something different.....Good luck with your Mary's Baby Sherry. In your cooler climate the color ought to be amazing. Hope you post a picture.......Debra: I lost my initial Mary's Baby many years ago over winter. I called Richard Norris and he sent me another one for free and said it shouldn't have died on me. I was very surprised. The one from him is the one that's still going all these years later.............Maryl...See Moresome crassulas why 15 characters?
Comments (3)geo it's probably argentea variegata-although ovata variegata or tricolor are both possibilities, this sounds obvious, but the way to get good variegation is to take cuttings of the most varied branches-the chlorophyll problem means that rooting and growth may be slower but the results are worth it i think....See MoreBroken? rib (must have 15 characters to post? dumb)
Comments (22)A couple of years ago I slipped walking down a hill, and landed with my full weight on my stiff, straight right arm, jarring and wrenching my shoulder and upper back. I was sure I had torn muscles or bruised something. It hurt, but not so much that I wanted to let it affect me. I continued on with life despite the pain, including playing in my twice weekly volleyball league. The pain continued for weeks, and I wasn't even really connecting the ongoing pain with the earlier fall. On a couple of instances the pain became very much worse, but I thought I had merely over done it. Eventually I went to my PCP and was sent for an x-ray. Upon getting home from the x-ray the doctor called saying I had a broken rib in my upper back, and that it looked "funny" and asked me to go back in for more x-rays, immediately if possible. After the x-rays I was sent for a cat scan and later a bone scan. Because the break looked funny, ie. somewhat raggedy on the margins of the break, and because of its location, completely beneath my shoulder blade they were convinced that it was a bone lesion indicating bone cancer and they were looking for more. In the end though the break was most likely caused by the shoulder blade due to the fall, and the raggedy appearance was due to it partially healing and being rebroken at least twice. So the moral of the story is take it easy, and give your rib time to fully heal before too much physical activity -- such a shoveling snow....See MoreMaryl (Okla. Zone 7a)
