Ill try and get some pics sorted out, the palms are about 1 meter with 1 kentia abit bigger, the pots are about a size up from the original pots. It seems to be smaller lower to mid level fronds. Its a small number of fronds on most not all palms. I would guess the balance of incline to decline is 7/3, new fronds to dying fronds. I added lime but it wasnt dolomite but I added slow release with micro nutrients, I also feed with each watering with a very slightly weaker than recommended palm fertilizer with added micro nutriants, its recomended to add fertilizer each watering, there is a but tho I have a fungus gnat problem so the last few waterings have not had fertilizer but a product called gnat off, the problem was before this tho, infact pretty much right after potting with 5-1-1 but this was pretty much put down to transplant shock.

Its not only drought that can cause this problem. Usually it's caused by winter cold damage (maybe a combination of cold winter weather with wet weather). Pindos take a VERY long time to show winter damage. My unprotected pindo (it was a mild winter) started losing fronds around May from winter damage, but the middle fronds stayed green so it is alive. My protected one is growing (and had no damage) so that's how you know for sure that it survived the winter. Give the center frond a nice tug and it will pull out. Then treat with some peroxide and water well. If the fronds continue to die from the middle, then cut the trunk down about an inch or so. This is a last resort as trunk cutting in just the right spot sometimes will be enough to get some new fronds to grow, but it will take about 2 summers for it to look full again, but it will look nice before that. I think it might be getting overwated. Dont water it for about a week and see what happens. And cut off all the yellow fronds so that way you can see if the yellow is spreading or if its just those fronds that decided to go. Sometimes palms drop a few fronds when their roots are disturbed and most of the time, they recover perfectly (and the newest leaves look very healthy on yours so far.) Keep us updated! -Alex

Where is the plant growing? Dypsis lutescens is not the easiest of the genus. Is it is good sun?..., exposure?..., duration?... What are your watering practices? What's the soil like? Temperature? How much bigger is the container? Are you feeding it anything? There are lots of conditions in which a palm will occasionally produced stunted or even deformed new growth. Could be anything from previous winter cold damage to the palm bud (with outdoor palms), to inadequate micronutrients. Often palms will grow out of this to produce normal growth over time. (with outdoor palms) have seen this on Phoenix (dates), Butia (Pindo) and others. (Key phrase is "over time", as palms are in no rush to catch up to our expectations.)
