Cost of Marvin Ultimate vs. Marvin Integrity
Comments (8)windowshopper- I don't know if the dealers will compete. I have about the same number of windows as you, 3 of them are arched casements, plus 7 sets of French doors (5 of them are stationary). I was told that Integrity didn't make the arched windows I needed & I would need to go with Marvin Ultimate for those. I consulted with 4 different dealers-everyone had a different price and no one was willing to compete. One of them deals pretty much just with Marvin & he was the highest of the bunch! When I tried to negotiate and let him know he was significantly higher than other dealers and frankly he was even higher than the quote I got from Pella (which was through the roof), his response was he may not be the least expensive, but I was paying for quality. Quality? No matter where I get the Integrity, it's the same window quality, right? My framer is installing, so installation quality doesn't enter into it. Then he tried to talk me into all Marvin Ultimate because using Ultimate for the 3 arched windows & Integrity for everything else just wouldn't look right. When I let him know there was no way I could afford all Ultimate, he again went on and on about quality & making room for them in the budget. Obviously, he had an agenda & it didn't match mine. With that being said, one dealer is working with the area Integrity rep to see what they can do about getting a better deal especially on the French doors. They came in about double the cost of Jeld-Wen Siteline, M&W Mira & M&W Freedom 800, and just above the Pella Architect price. The windows were all less expensive than the Siteline, Mira, and Pella. We shall see what they come up with! But absolutely nothing wrong with shopping around--if you don't ask for a better deal, you can't expect them to voluntarily offer you one. Let me know how things go & if you find a dealer with rock bottom Integrity & Ultimate pricing!...See MoreMarvin Integrity all ultrex vs Anderson 100
Comments (177)My daughter has purchased a new home with 50 year old double hung windows that need to be replaced. It is a colonial home in Massachusetts several miles from the coast. She is trying to decide between the Anderson 400 series and the Marvin Integrity. She wants to stay with the same traditional 6 over 6 white double hung windows. Any thoughts on which is better - the Marvin Integrity, or the Anderson 400 Series?...See MoreMarvin window interior white paint
Comments (2)Best bet would be to call Marvin directly and if they cannot give you a formulation, take a color swatch to Sherwin Williams and have them blend the color for you. There may not be a "formula" that you can cross reference in this case between Marvin and Sherwin because of proprietary chemicals and constituents, but I have found that the color scanned matches are so good these days that it really doesn't matter....See MoreMarvin Ultimate vs Integrity
Comments (14)Would love to see photos, beautiful home! Not that you asked, and this is an old post, but I'm a purist so I wouldn't change out those original windows if you paid me - new windows just don't have the character and look--not sure that if well maintained that the heating/cooling would make it worth the cost either from various things that I've read over the years. The Ultimates can be made in wood interior & exterior as well, so that is a good compromise one can afford it. Ultimates and Elevate are what we're looking at and cannot makeup our minds. Our home was built in 1978 and originally had all aluminum windows. They were replaced with tacky beige vinyl Milgard windows (guessing about 15-20 years ago. Some get stuck and you can hear them expanding when days got hot or very cold, plus most have broken seals. We didn't like Pella at all and the extruded aluminum is def what got me to look at Marvin. Each window was about $300 more for Ultimate, but hopefully these will last well after we're gone!...See MoreRachel L
