Roselvr, I'm scratching my head on this one. IVF these days is quite unlikely to produce high order multiples, meaning 3 or more. Many Reproductive Endocrinologists refuse to put back more than 3, and usually only in a case where they are not of high quality. I recently visited a clinic that only puts back one, and my clinic would only do two. Your friend sounds like many people I know who have never had fertility issues. Perhaps she did IVF for her 4, but I hardly think that it's a trend sweeping the nation - it's expensive, it's invasive, and it is (or often is) highly emotionally charged, even if the outcome is successful. Sorry for the OT rant. Mary Sorry, rereading my post, I guess I got side tracked looking at house pictures and never finished my thoughts or spaced it out.. My neighbor did not do IVF.. She had one right after the other. A playroom like this would have been great for her and the little ones. I was also thinking about someone that had multiples.. I'm glad to hear that places are not putting more then a few back. I watch the shows on TLC, Jon & Kate, the one with the 4 identical 5 year old girls, the lady from PA that had the little boy Sammy then had multiples and the most recent one I saw where they had 5. I could not imagine having that many little kids running around. Anyway.. back to the topic. I love the playroom. While I was at the agents site I saw they also have a recreation room, looks like it is in a walk out basement.

eliza, my photos might be deceiving but the room is painted a pale green (BM Soft Fern) and isn't going to be re-painted any time soon! It's a big room (about 20' x 20') open to another big room (where our pool table is), and both were painted just about two years ago. Thanks for all the nice comments! I remembered 1 or 2 people were asking about playroom ideas recently so I figured I'd show mine.

We did go with Ikea, the expedit. I LOVE them! I keep bugging DH to go back and get a couple more for our basement. I think they are great storage. I did think about using some of my DR furniture for storage and keeping it, but I just didn't think it would work for me. There are doors they make for the Expedits and some people paint them. First question - Which wall do you think would work best for the built-ins? The wall opposite the window or opposite the door? Toy storage -- whatever y'all decide to go with -- would work best (at least for me!) opposite the window. Largely because then the immediate dumping-toys-out-so-I-can-see-what-I-want-in-here mess is out of sight from the main entrance of the room/adjacent spaces. Second - how would you layout the space - ie where would art table go? There needs to be open space too as kids tend to stretch out on the floor to play. I would also, as others have mentioned, place the table under the window. It's nice to play under a window. :-) Our playroom table is also taller than a standard kiddie table, allowing the youngest children to sit/play/hide underneath it. 3- flooring? Carpet most comfy, but laminate easier to clean up. Would it look weird to do a combination of both? I like the idea of the hard flooring with carpet-like Flor tiles, since y'all combine playroom with art. (We do all of our art stuff at the dining table because of the mess, lol.) 4- fun ideas especially for the little kids nook? I was going to see if my builder can make the outside look like a little house... any other cool ideas you’ve done or seen? I’m purposely leaving our chalkboard wall because I don’t want to clean all the dust it leaves behind I'm going to be more fun and less practical than previous posters, lol -- I would definitely do something fun for the nook. A little house (with a Dutch door), painted in gender neutral colors with a magnetic-paint wall, would be awesome. Or, string up some hammocks in that space, with some silk foliage/leafy garland hung from the doorway (use several, so that it operates like a bead curtain), and glow-in-the-dark star stickers on the ceiling. Or maybe a little "restaurant" set up, with a small table, 2 chairs, and a room divider/half wall for the waiter/waitress to disappear behind and prepare the customers' orders. What are your kiddos interested in? Anything glow-in-the-dark or magnetic is a total win. :-)
