Clivia poor health

Russell

I've had these Clivia about 8 years but they always struggle. They sit in the shade of a mature liquidambar (which may be sucking out the moisture) and their bed is covered in dry liquidambar nuts and leaves, which serve as mulch. There is drip irrigation underneath but mostly the bed is on the dry side.

So what I'm trying to work out is:

- what's nibbling the edges of the leaves (I've not cut them back so may be old)

- what's happened to the flowers (its spring here in the southern hemisphere)

- why aren't the plants a deep green with lots of flowers like in the neighbouring properties

Any ideas appreciated
