Help! Worms won't stay down in new compost bin
Comments (7)I would put in some more friendly bedding. I put in some organic home made compost with the news paper and card baord. THey really like old wet cardbaord. having some soil in there helps. Where they came from probably had compost, soil or at least worm castings all over, so the new moist news print might seem like a foriegn place to them. you could put soil or compost in just half of your worm bin and see if they like it. Egg shells crushed up very fine and boil some leaves and put them in there too. News paper or any thing natural is hard to break down with out any soil in it or with out much worm castings in there. Once the soil is mixed in with paper, cardbaord or leaves ist will start to break down and end up as food stuff for the creatures in the bin and the worms too. The creatures are bacteria and stuff we cannot see. Newly wet news print is not food instantly, it is only a place to hide for now. BUt in time it will break down and get slimey or decompose and become food. Good luck BIll C...See MoreGas water heater won't stay lit after running out of propane
Comments (4)It is likely air in the line leading from main to heater. I suggest haveing the propane company send someone back out because their service call is much cheaper than a plumber's. Relighting it yourself based on instructions gleaned on the net is not a good idea. . Time for a story about tinkering with propane gas. Man jumped out of a plane for his first parachute jump. Unfortunatly he wasn't paying attention when given instructions earlier about operating his chute. Just as he was giving up hope,he sees another man flying up toward him from the ground. As they passed he shouts "hey do you know how to open a parachute? "No,comes the reply,do you know how to light the pilot on a propane water heater?"...See MoreShower handle keeps popping out, water won't turn off!
Comments (3)This is just a guess, but I am wondering if the edges of the handle are hitting the wall's trim kit plate when you push it in. (i.e maybe it needs more room to be turned off). If it is hitting, then maybe you just need a bit more room by tightening the trim kit screws a few more turns (they're visible next to the handle on the trim kit plate). Don't overtighten them, just what you need, since it will pull the diverter (behind the wall) further out. Alternatively, if it is a Moen, call their customer service for advice. Don't tell them you "just moved in" or anything, but say that you "have this, and it doesn't work".... Please let us know how it works out. Good luck....See MoreElectric hot water heater not staying as hot
Comments (9)Hi Sara in philly.....I'm just outside Philly - Chester County. If you search on "water heater forum" you will find some great forums with lots of info including some on how to self-diagnose things with your heater. I'm assuming some here will feel it's best to get a plumber to do this, BUT, from reading what the pros suggest, some things can be self-diagnosed with the proper tool - a measuring device of some sort, I think, that measures the junk in the tank....There's also a step-by-step site on things to check out with problem water heaters, but unfortunately, I didn't save the site. There's a wealth of info to learn on those sites. Good luck....See More- 5 years agolast modified: 5 years ago
