Doesn't seem to boot up properly
Comments (11)Shaddy please ignore your second thread requesting help. I had replied there before realising you had 2 threads running on the same issue. This only causes confusion. Below is what I had written on the other thread............ This is more likely a software issue than anything to do with hardware. Does the loading stop at the same spot each time? How long after the black screen do you wait before you shut down and re-start? Leave it a little longer next time to see if it cures itself as it seems like a corrupt file. Watch the flashing of the activity light on the front of your tower, does it stop about the same time as the black screen? Next time this happens and you reboot take a look here once it is running click Start click Control panel click Administrative tools click Event viewer Do not get frightened off by all the gibberish you see while doing the next bit Shaddy. Just quietly review it for clues so we can help you get this sorted out. Now we have a new window with 2 sides, on the left side click on System. Now look on the right side for red error messages, scrolling down if needed. Double click on any of these to see what it says. You may not understand much of it but look for clues and any error message and error number. There is also a link underlined and in blue text, you can click on that the bring up a help page. When you have finished there go back to the left side of the Event viewer window and click on Application and see what there is there regarding errors or warnings....See MoreDoes anyone know why Subway doesn't put mayo on the bread?
Comments (53)LindaC, now you're talking Elery's language. He spent his teen years working in a small neighborhood grocery owned by an Italian family. Now we sometimes go to GB Russo's and he gets a sandwich from the deli, much like you describe, but with a special "dressing" that seems a lot like vinegar and oil with herbs to me. The capicola is too spicy, the raw onions give me heartburn, even if I pick off the hot peppers the residue remains and I don't like vinegar and oil dressing, LOL. So, I'll pass, but Ashley and Elery think they've gone just this side of heaven. (grin) Ashley likes the addition of mortadella on hers, and as far as I can see, that's bologna! I've had Jimmy John's once and that was enough, and the only sub joints here now that I've moved is Subway, Mancino's and Jimmy John's. They all have way too much bread and not enough "stuff", so if there's no other choice I'll throw away the top half of the bread and eat the rest of the sandwich. I do the same thing with most restaurant sandwiches anyway, everything now has seemed to go to "artisan" bread and it's inches thick, far more bread than filling. Comments (61)ptamom, florantha, fori, and trailrunner - thanks so muck for your feedback. Thanks holligator for the grout color feedback. I ended up trying to match the more beige tones in the tile to tone down the greens and yellows. I think it works. My one concern is that the sealer will make it darker. I don't think your grout looks lighter, just really great. muspic, I agree with you. I think once it is painted (later today) and the herbs are in place it will look fine. At least that is my hope. Thanks laurainlincoln. Staying strong here. It is a working kitchen, sayde. It's purpose is for serious cooking and not so serious enjoying of the cooking. It's about balance and I'm really trying to achieve that here. So here's the latest update....Finished tiling Sunday and grouting yesterday. Still have some touch ups and csulking to do today but he did it. When all was said and done he did say he was very pleased with the results. That's a very high accolade coming from him. Here's some pics! I love it! I love it so much I'm not even going to mind paint window trim today :) And I detest retailed trim painting because it's so time consuming. Thanks for all of your support. The end result was worth all of the angst. I'll post another pic when the herbs are in and it's what I hope it will be....See MoreQuick window flashing
Comments (29)"Techniques, sequences, procedures and means" refers to the manner in which the work is done rather than responsibility for the design of that work. If you are the owner you are responsible for the design and need to assign that responsibility to someone by contract. That can be to a designer, an architect or a design-build contractor. If the latter is the case, you should have a design-build contract with your contractor. This work is too important to be undefined. Most of the standards you reference are voluntary guidelines that must be included in the contract. The same is true for house wrap and window installation. The code requirements are in Chapter 7 Wall Coverings. At least in Seattle If the wall is not tested, a rainscreen-like drainage system must be provided (R703.1) Exception #3 exempts specifically panel siding from this requirement. But there is a published code interpretation that says this exception #3 includes "most exterior siding and cladding and that single-wall construction is allowed. The code doesn't say that so it would be necessary to ask the local building official. The issue is that in areas with high risk for wind\rain exposure a drainage cavity and flashing inside the window opening is needed to allow water to drain back out of the walls and windows instead of only building a surface barrier to water like your contractor is doing. I work in the East so this is as much as I understand about the matter. You need the help of someone who designs houses in your area....See MorePPF.
