Can you show me Black and Blue?
Comments (16)Here is a picture I took awhile ago: I LOVE this colour of BLUE! You can see that it took over my Rose bed. The two little plants I started with, spread and bloomed last year and dropped seeds that grew. I dug up and gave away lots of plants this Spring and still it has filled in the Rose Bed. Can't see the roses at all! It's over 5 ft. tall this year. (I am 5'4" and am looking into the plants not over them!) Attracts all kinds of pollinators - Honey bees, Hummer moths, Bumbles, Butterflies, Moths, and Hummingbirds. I love watching them all and listening to them busy at their work. ~ Annie OBTW: In the photo Link below you might be able to see the following flowers: Background: Black and Blue Salvia, Lemon Balm, Blue Bedder Salvia, Provence Lavender, Purple Coneflowers, White Swan Coneflowers, Hardy Hill Rosemary, Catmint, Magenta Bee Balm, Tasha Tudor Hollyhocks, Silver Princes Daisies Pink Cascade Petunias, pink & white Cleomes Various Tea and Shrub roses, and Queen Anne's Lace and Fountain grass. Center to Foreground: Giant Chartreuse Coleus, Midas Touch (Yellow rose), Dark Pink Knock-Out rose, pink & white Old-fashioned Bleeding Hearts, Soft Pink Lady Elsie May Rose (Center), Tall orange Nasturtiums, various Dianthus, red, white & blue Petunias (in the Americana painted washtub - center left), Red Dazzler Day Lilies and Crimson Beauty Cannas (a dark Salmon Pink). Comments (10)I love the streakers for their look... I always have good intentions of doing something with the seeds (last year was a good example) but then I got too busy and didn't plant any of them. Anyway, here's what I have... (I put a question mark because although this was sold to me as LS Mom, I have always had my doubts about it's true identity. I have always suspected it was just a "streaky seedling." Anyway, here's the pic...)...See MoreShow us your fav ALMOST blue hosta!
Comments (30)Ok Pavlovs Don. Grown adults drooling over hosta's. I don't know what's wrong with all of us but I like it. Thanks bmonkeys. Yes they are limelight trees creating a "floating hedge" around a courtyard. So as not to set a bad example to the neighborhood kids I only enjoy an iced tea there. If it happens to be of the Long Island variety so be it. : )) Thank you Jo. Very good eye. Actea 'Hillside Black Beauty'. Great foliage, flowers and fragrance. A must for any hosta garden. A group of them along side a Sun King Aralia with a big blue hosta will be in my garden soon....See MoreKolher Black acrylic shower base--Show stains easy?
Comments (4)Where do you live? You can have my very expensive, relatively new black toilet. It's gorgeous. It looks beautiful for an hour after I clean it, then no one will sit on it because it looks dirty. I'm currently shopping for a new white toilet. It will not look as good with the slate I have, but I'm over that. By the way, I'm not picky about dirt. I'm a gardener. The problems with the black toilet in my part of the world are threefold: 1. We have hard water with lots of lime and calcium. The inside of the bowl has a thick white ring and water spots all over it. The water spots are very difficult to clean off. 2. Toilet paper is white. Little tiny bits of white paper are really obvious on a black seat. White TP dust is too. Black seats show finger prints- and butt prints! 3. Dust. Unless you have a well-sealed home and a nice air filter, dust will show like nobody's business. It doesn't help that I have big windows in a small bath, so the light picks it up, but still. Dust accumulates around the bolt covers and in all of the cracks and I have to go at it with a Q-tip. I imagine the shower pan will have the same issues if you have hard water or use bar soap. The other issue I have is that highly contrasting colors in a small room make it look smaller, and unless you want to go all super dark, you might have the same issue. Good luck.
