Comments (11)Thanks everyone.......As one who just got out of the blue, ha! when we moved here 7 yrs ago , I haven't really wanted to jump back on the blue bandwagon totally. I was ahead of the blue phrase with blue & white toile wallpaper in DR in my last house and LR sunny yellow with blue and white accents BUT who knows.......might change around to that again. FC blue & white small checked custom drapes are still upstairs packed up. This new blue seems more of a grayed blue to me though.......almost like a spa blue. Out here on the lake, it is freezing cold in the winter and hot hot in the summer. HOuse is facing west right into the sun all afternoon in the summer and cold wind comes across the lake in the winter blowing straight onto our front. The blue seems like a chilly color to me sometimes but it may just be the direction this house is facing. Am loving all the websites and checking them out........thanks everyone for your helpful info and websites! Bonnie...See MoreHere's a fun Quiz to find out your decorating style.

You have an elemental approach to interior design, certainly in terms of color, texture and (most of all) materials. You not only see the beauty in wildflowers but in field grasses and scrubland too..." As someone who really is as likely to photograph the field out back as the flowers in the yard, I'd say that's pretty accurate. (Then again, we do have a lovely field, see for yourself.) For years my personal mantra has been "Texture, texture, texture." But I have to say, my favorite part was: "You like it rugged and rustic in the bedroom." (Well, yes, but only if the sheets are clean.) LOL Here is a link that might be useful:...See Moreneed help with use of space, decor style...
Comments (35)So pretty! I’m a sucker for toile, though that might be a little much. Is the furniture yours? I think as long as you keep the bones of the house, you can furnish even in ultra-modern. Just a thought: one wall change that I think would be appropriate to the house as well as enhance your living in it would be to, if possible, add a doorway from the foyer to the butler pantry, take out the sink and cabinets there, and add a door from the butler pantry to the back yard. It will be easier to use than the kitchen door when you entertain, allow for nice cross breezes, make The foyer more open, and just look airier. However, the stairs are above that small wall so that might be an issue; you couldn’t take out the wall altogether, but a doorway might work. I imagine the doorway next to the firestove and the built-in in the living room are not original. Maybe not the Firestove, either....See MoreHelp decorating attic/family room
Comments (14)Thank you all so much for the advice and insight! Definitely going to look at ditching the coffee table first for a smaller round one. I've tried removing it from the space and it feels much more open and comfortable without it there. I'd purchased some throw pillows but would like to introduce some more color as the gray on gray is very bleak, so it would be nice to warm the room up a bit. The ceiling lighting from above is a bit harsh when relaxing at night, so i'd like to explore some more cozy lighting as well. I didn't realize how dead looking the first pictures came out initially, so I took a couple today and will just add them here to give a better representation of the room spaze, couch color, & lighting....See Morernonwheels
