Shee, how many windows do you have, just 1 window and the door as shown in your pic or windows on both sides of the door? We have about the same situation and PO installed mini blinds on the windows and door therefore the door cannot open completely. Do you open your door? I plan to ditch the mini blinds and DD is making a lined drapery that will be mounted up above the windows and door. It will be on a metal rod with rings and little clips. My plan is to pull the drapery together to the center in the morning (faces east) and then close again in the evening for privacy. We don't open our door often but when we do I would love to have it open back against the window and not poke out into the breakfast room. I love your fabrics, also agree that whatever is in your dining area should match the kitchen valance.

I personally dislike all the neutrals around. I prefer to have something perky. How about a fabric design such as this. From a distance you can't see the design, but up close it's very hardy and interesting. I also have a multi-colored rug with coral and teal and I love how the sofa fabric ties it all together.

How about a pattern you like with colors that match your existing solids. Then you can mix and match. Looks like you've pretty much got beige and brown there now. Do you want something subtle or bold? Dark red or blue would be an option. A bolder accent color would draw the eyes to the space and make it look more inviting. As would maybe some bolder accents on the tables or walls. Like a big metal candle lantern or flower pot or metal sculpture on the wall. We got some garage sale nautical art to hand on our porch wall, under the roof of course but not fine art that will get ruined by a little weather. We even have a sign that says, "Welcome to the porch" and then lists all the fun things you can do there. Kitschy but makes the space look inviting.

What do you think about switching the rugs for now — the bigger one under your sofa (just under the front feet) and the smaller at the door (or getting a new one there) … just until you know exactly what sofa you’re getting?
