Revised kitchen layout--need help with sink, DW placement
Comments (7)Most people prefer the dishwasher to be to the right of the sink, but it also depends where your dish/glasses storage is. I'd recommend that the prep sink go on the end of the island closest to the cooktop. Trash? Probably immediately next to the prep sink. As for the sink cabinet width, it depends on your sink. If you don't know the size of your sink, probably best to go for a 36" cabinet. One other suggestion. I found 12" drawers to be pretty useless (although I think it's a great idea to create a cabinet in the space where you wrote in "12" stack of drawers" in the island. One of my favorite cabinets in my previous house/kitchen was the cabinet dedicated to the step stool. Ours was 9" and it was extremely convenient....See MoreNeed help deciding on a kitchen sink
Comments (31)Seems pretty clear that you need to think about how you use a sink before deciding on which type of sink. What works for one person won't work for another. Many on the kitchen forum insist that a large one bowl is the way to go and, I'm sure for them, it is. I have both (a large one bowl at the lake and divided in the city) and, for the way I use my sink, the double bowl works best. Our divided sink in the city has one small bowl and a larger bowl and find that is ideal for us. I also prefer a stainless sink for looks and because I'm pretty hard on sinks and I think SS takes abuse well....See MoreHelp! I’m not loving my new kitchen. Need help pulling this together,
Comments (39)I love what you've done so far! I agree that it just needs some warmth and color. We put Coretec LVP in our basement and are happy with it. I really love the Acacia pattern. It is the one I wanted, but we went with something with more greys in it (I was outvoted). But I've always loved the medium colors. Pay no attention to the price; we got ours for less than half that price through our contractor. https://coretecfloors.com/en-us/products/coretec-plus-5-plank/gold-coast-acacia-vv023-00201 Here's one that looks like bamboo: https://coretecfloors.com/en-us/products/coretec-pro-plus-enhanced-planks/kendal-bamboo-vv492-02012 This one is a bit darker but I really like this color: https://coretecfloors.com/en-us/products/coretec-pro-plus-enhanced-planks/lancaster-bamboo-vv492-02010...See MoreHelp--Need to choose kitchen cabinet hardware, faucet and sink
Comments (14)While the darker granite composite sinks are pretty indestructible, the white and cream ones stain easily and are harder to clean. If I were only choosing white/cream sink, I would get enameled cast iron. I don’t think a white sink will look that great with the OP’s choice of counter. To the OP - Cambria Skara Brae is a pretty contemporary look. I would choose a black granite composite sink like the Blanco Silgranit anthracite color to set it off, and I’d choose a polished faucet finish like polished chrome (not a brushed finish) so that the faucet gleams like jewelry on black velvet with the counter and black sink. Here are photos of the OP’s choice of counter. I could only find pics of it with stainless steel sinks which the OP says she doesn’t want....See MoreGrace H
