My new master bedroom is a dark room and in order to bring more light into the room I painted it a silver blue. SW Misty # 6232. I had BM custom mix it. Here is a blurred photo of it. I plan on accesorizing with silvers, glass, white and a touch of black. This color has a very high light rendering value of 63%.

thanks everyone for your votes! i think we have narrowed it down to going with blues or the creamy whites. emmarene, i liked the green too but DH nixed the oranges or greens. atkillery, i agree the tans would not be crisp enough. mayflowers and crl, thank you for the suggestion to pick the white from the accent tile! i don't know why that thought never crossed my mind, lol. that is why i need you folks :-) annie, DH and i both like the wedgwood too and think it could give more contrast/impact, just have to see if it will be too dark. tibbrix, i really like the idea of white wainscoting and then blue on top, I am not sure i can do the wainscoting now though as we have 6" tile baseboards installed? here is a pic of our walls, just primed. I guess a creamy white might look similar? I'll try to photoshop in some blues for you guys to see too. with so many color choices, it was so hard for me to narrow it down, so thank you! now we just need to pick the perfect shade!

The office and foyer look to have good natural light while the kitchen does not. If that's true, based on the progression I outlined above, I would put the lightest color in the kitchen, a mid-range shade in the foyer and the darkest color on a color strip card in the office. Use the flooring as your key, and go with blue or yellow undertones, all depending on the warmth or "coolth" of the flooring color. For example, if you have yellow undertones you might try a selection of more pastel olive greens (usually yellow based) or if cool, some sage greens have more blue undertones. Christopher Lowell has an easy method to help you get a good neutral that is not influenced much by blue or yellow, but a true neutral for a good background. Here is his video "7 layers of design." I really like that lovely wallpaper! I think teal would be just fine in that space as long as you have proper lighting. As an alternative, if it were my space, I would match the white background of the wallpaper for the other walls in order to make the pattern of the wallpaper be the star of the show. But I think the teal would work well and look lovely in the space too. An oval mirror would be very nice. I'm a huge fan of wall mount swivel mirrors because they really add a special something to the space. I think putting them over wall paper would also help the wallpaper show even more because you'd see it peeking behind the mirror. Pottery Barn Kensington Pivot Mirror
