Please help with paint color for windowless bathroom
Hi everyone, we are done tiling our laundry/bath now. So we need to start thinking about paint! What would you recommend?
The challenge is the bath has no windows. It is also our laundry room. So we want something bright.
We will have sort of gray-wash brown stained vanity. Light stained fir door, white trims and moldings.
Here is a pic of the tile-- sort of light browns and creams, with very slight grey undertones. Floors are a stone tile called turkish marble.
I was thinking of doing a beige or white, but maybe it would feel like to much too beige? Would love your suggestions on something that will feel bright, but maybe give it more pop.

Comments (2)Certainly ask the kids for suggestions, but in the meantime, I would concentrate your search on warmer colors that will compliment the warm sand color of the tile. I have a feeling something in the same family as the former yellowish cream color will probably be your best bet, although I could see a warmer green (with more yellow than blue) working in there. If you don't mind a dark color in a small space, a warm chocolate brown or a deep plum could look nice as well, although I have a feeling it might be overwhelming given that there are no windows....See MorePaint for windowless bathroom
Comments (2)The before was a different (light purple) paint colour on the walls. I repainted, added the peel and stick wallpaper for an accent wall (I have a bit of a boho/floral theme in other places), hung a photo and got some new accessories. I’m not a renter but would prefer not to paint cabinets. Comments (17)I would go all white and then change the shower curtain, art and other accessories to suite them as they grow and change. Let the 5 y.o. help pick out the shower curtain and then build the other accessory colors around what is in the curtain. Cheap frames around the mirror and art can be repainted as their color choices change with a new shower curtain every few years when they tire of the current theme. 7 years agoI'd put a bold color in there. It will make all your beautiful fixtures, etc., pop more than would a neutral. It would also make the bathroom feel brighter if there is no window in there.

annie, i think the olive hue is from the lighting, currently there is just a yucky flourescent bulb in the socket. i've taken a bunch of pics of the tiles in natural light. i'll upload it along with some color swatches for all of your votes!

tibbrix, thanks for the color suggestion! i do like the idea of going bold, but am afraid it would be too dark with no windows?
aktillery, i like those bathroom colors, thank you! i guess the second wall color is sort of a cream? the first one looks a little green maybe? i'll try to ask the houzz designers for the colors.

monica, thanks! my accent tile is 8x8. plus the quarter rounds, probably makes it around 10".
so i took a bunch of pics of my tile with my BM fan deck. most of the paint would be on walls close to the floor tile (bottom tile in pics) rather than the shower tile (top tile). please point me in the general direction!

7 years agolast modified: 7 years agoWhat if you put white wainscoting on the wall and painted just the top half in a mid-depth color? I like the Wedgwood Gray. Another beautiful color is BM Mt. St. Anne. Also BM Yarmouth Blue.

emmarene, i liked the green too but DH nixed the oranges or greens.
atkillery, i agree the tans would not be crisp enough.
mayflowers and crl, thank you for the suggestion to pick the white from the accent tile! i don't know why that thought never crossed my mind, lol. that is why i need you folks :-)
annie, DH and i both like the wedgwood too and think it could give more contrast/impact, just have to see if it will be too dark.
tibbrix, i really like the idea of white wainscoting and then blue on top, I am not sure i can do the wainscoting now though as we have 6" tile baseboards installed?
here is a pic of our walls, just primed. I guess a creamy white might look similar?
I'll try to photoshop in some blues for you guys to see too.
with so many color choices, it was so hard for me to narrow it down, so thank you! now we just need to pick the perfect shade!

7 years agohi everybody, just wanted to update you all. we finally finished painting! we went with a blue from Kelly moore, called Gulf Wind (at 75%) with swiss coffee trims and swiss coffee ceiling. I like how the blue looks with the brushed nickel. Anyway, just wanted to share about this particular blue, which is a nice grey/blue and didn't make the bath too dark, for being windowless.
Still need to get real lights in here and a shower door, but here is a pic.
