repair of Front Porch column with rotted base

I have a front porch with 4 pairs of wood columns bolted to the concrete floor. There is second story but nothing is built on to of it. So it is supporting the it own roof only. Almost all the wood column bases has some rot of varying degree from 1/4 to the 1/2 of the whole width of the column and 6-12 inch in the height. Rot was likely set in getting wet from faulty sprinklers.

I have a contractor who is suggesting to treat the rot with fungicide and fill gap with epoxy like filler, break the floor around the all the 4 pillar posts, and construct re-bar enforced concrete column about 1.5 to 2 feet high at the base.

Will that be a correct approach or should all the wood pillars be repaired or replaced with wood columns.

What are the pros and cons of each strategy.

Thanks
